Hey folks,

It's been two years and while covid hasn't gone away, it feels like at the very least Noclip managed to make it through. And while we look towards a future that is slowly opening up (albeit in small bursts) I wanted to make sure we were prepared for a new way of working.

Today we're announcing Noclip's new direction. A way of helping us produce the big documentaries you love, while creating a new channel as both a creative playground for the team, and a way to foster our community.

Road Trip

The concept of the road trip is to be nimble. To use windows between covid surges to get out and film as much as we can. We're targeting the American West for in-person filming and have about a dozen projects ready to go from both indie and AAA studios.
We're going to work on longer docs that focus on concepts - like the Half-Life retrospective or Rediscovering Mystery.  Higher production, better writing, and on games that you care about. And we're going to use our time between trips to work on remote interviews, and keep creating docs on smaller games and older games in both formats.
We're also going to use this "road" mentality to record more interesting patron exclusive videos and behind the scenes bits. Which leads us on to...

Noclip Crew (Subscribe Now!)

We've had so many ideas over the past 5+ years which simply don't work on the main channel. Shorter videos, opinion videos, creative videos, behind the scenes videos. Noclip Crew is going to be a place for us to work on those while we develop the big documentaries on the main site.
So if you were waiting for my old show The Point to return, or want to see us trying to play Elden Ring in the desert, this is the channel for you.

So if you're already a patron, how can you help?

Well, first things first - please keep supporting. Our work is only possible because a large number of our patrons stick around. While we lose a chunk of patrons every few months, it means the ones who stay are even more vital to us. Of course if you can, please consider upping your patronage, or maybe even going annual. The up-front funding always helps us plan and increases our average retention.

Most importantly though - is just keep watching out work. Keep giving us feedback so we can get better. Engage in the new channel and help us form that. We're not planning on going anywhere if we can help it, so either way the next year is going to be very interesting.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for caring about our work enough to help it exist.

Here's to the new adventure.

Thank you.

Danny
