Here, a bit more detailed examples of exaggeration when designing a cartoonish thicc character, and making use of references.

As I said before, with time, copying from a references will slowly building up on your brain enough information to, eventually, drawing from imagination. But keep in mind, that your library on your brain is not empty, it is already filled with countless images you have liked in the past, now, what you have to do, is shaper your perception, looking carefully in the shapes and compositions to realize what make them good.

As you manage the suffering and frustration of not being able to draw in the beginning, and every now and then drawing something you are proud of (at least until the next day) your hunger for improvement will grow.

Oh, yeah, one last thing on this post, as you can notice, there is a lot of motivational talk in this posts, because I believe it is harder to craft a learner mindset than the craft of drawing itself. So, thoughts like "I have no talent" "I can't do this" "I will never be good" are your biggest enemies. Once you state this for yourself, its like you are commanding your brain to make this a reality. So avoid thoughts that will crush yourself, and nurture the thoughts that will grow into the person you want to be, like "I will be good at drawing" "I can do this" for example.
