I think quoting Bolt Thrower to kick of this entry is appropriate. They're a big band and this is a big project. Big in my heart at least. I appreciate the new imperial guard line, there is a lot of movement and variety in their poses, great for dioramas. Then I was gifted this Commissar at Adepticon and it all started coming togther.

Shouts out to my buddy Joe Orthober for the plinth!

Working large to small, big to little, as usual. I wanted to create the image of the guard spilling forward over a road of their own corpses, a tide of bodies with the stalwart commissar as a stone in the waves of battle.

Once I had everything staged and in position it was time to start packing more debris in wherever I could fit it. More detail = more chaos. War is hell (detail)!

The commissar takes the stage nicely but I also want to enhance that with some spotlighting and tones. I began playing with my flashlight.

My plan is to paint this entirely on Twitch. I photoshopped (badly) this image to throw up and help describe to the viewers what the plan is.

After today's 3 hour stream, I'd say I made good progress. I'll be back to it on Friday!..Wow, thanks phone. I've been deleting and reposting this picture and it's always fucking sideways.
