Life has been busy this month but I'm happy to have found a clearing. Within this busy month I took a trip to Lake Geneva in Wisonsin to teach some classes and enjoy the nerdy things in life.

I arrived in the dark with equipment in tow. This is a smaller convention that is growing. I wanted to provide the same experience that students have at Adepticon but as it's just beginning, I brought my own gear. It had been a long time since I've taught with my own set up, I rembered everything but my laptop..which was crucial to connect the TV to the overhead camera. A big thank you to CrashingAtom for loaning me his computer. That could have been uncomfortable haha.

I ran 3 classes, one on blending in which we painted a sword, an intoricduon to freehand, and then a smaller class where two students and I unraveled the many mysteries of chromancy.

The classes went well! I had trouble sleeping the night before but everyone left a little better than they came in. Just a couple round tables and good people :)

The classes ended and I could finally relax. Thanks again to CrashingAtom and also raven for helping me carry equipment. The hotel is layed out in a very confusing, maze like format and I got us lost in the halls as I carried around my 60 pound TV. Walking out of the front lobby with a TV and no one saying anything was good for a laugh. I probably looked like some weirdo who brings their own TV to a hotel.

Following that workout I chilled for a bit and then got on to some gaming. The legendary Zambies and I crossed blades in two games of warcry, each taking home a single victory and a burning need to settle the score. We will meet again in the eightpoints to see just who is lord of the wasteland.

Thank you to Zambies for the mead and snacks :) We had a lot of fun, rolling our fate in stylish ways and adding narration to the story the dice were telling. Zambies also brought a lovely set of scenery.

Following that I had a game of Grim Dark Future Firefight with Uncle Atom. I wanted to exercise the rules and try out the system so we just killed eachother and tried to make situations happen. It was good game but has a lot of detail to it. I'd like to try some other systems out and get into some sc fi skirmishes in the future before I settle on a ruleset.

The night ended with us sitting outside with our new buddy, Soda Addict, and having some drinks. All the while a siren was wailing in the distance and strange banging sounds and the occasional scream. I think we heard music at points, but why was the siren going off for over 30 minutes at midnight? We called the front desk and they didn't know either. We checked for events online and still found nothing. Very strange and I still don't know what was going on.

At any rate, here we are the next day, tired and happy.

On the last day I judged the paint contest with Tony and took a few pictures of the tournament hall. It always cool to see fully painted armies on complete tables. There was a lot of good stuff!

Damn I'm bad at angles here. Must have been missing a shoe or something.

There is a very large charity auction every year. Very cool to be raising money for a good cause. This wasn't all of it but gives you an idea.

Congratulations to Imladrisil for his winning piece! Sorry for the cabinet photos.

I'm greatly looking forward to next year. It was very good time and friends were made, as well as meeting some folks from online for the first time in person. Attendance was a little over 500 and this was an increase from last year, success! I'm happy to be involved in this growing event.

Alright, back to my new workspace and getting the gears turning.

Cheers!
