Hails and cheers, Chromatic Warriors! Recently I had a student come a visit me for a one on one lesson. It was a great time and much was unchained.

Leading up to that visit I had some prep work to do on a pair of Necron Overlords. A little trimming and a good base that would compliment the models pose.

Working from large to small, I began with some cork and plasticard.

The main shape was established, I moved on to some medium size wreckage. A bit of guitar string, brass rod, and plastic tubing was adhered to that stylish swoop.

I thought I was done after this next step, just a bit of dirt to cover the cork and make the model look like he belongs.

Something was missing, it still looked a little bland. Then, I had an idea, shards of slate. These added more to directional swoop and brought some jagged edges to the silhouette. Decent.

From here they were ready for the lesson and much paint was applied. I'll have video coming up documenting our adventure.

I hope this serves as a some insight and inspiration for your bases. Keep swinging that hobby hammer!
