This model was started during the last lesson I had with Muscle Warrior Ville. We had a great time planning the project out, choosing our colors and discussing the theory involved.

Personally I always enjoy seeing conversions and bases in the bare material form. Contained on this base is a snail shell, jewelry chain, coffee stirring sticks, a sculpted spiral horn, and some pieces of plaster all laid under some natural Wisconsin dirt, laid in like so much frosting. I combined these in a form to complement the models pose. Still waiting for some piece to arrive so I can build a larger banner coming off of his back. Look forward to a video on that very Nurgly freehand :]

Color composition, this came together in an interesting way. We wanted to deviate from the usual green and decided on black armor which would show rust and patina effects off nicely. The skin will have a lot more nuance to it but we kicked it off with some wetblending, a reddish irritated tone will be the main feature but it will look even better with some putrid greens, purple, blue, you name it, worked in very slightly. I've been feeling the old school GW vibes lately which let me to paint his loin cloth yellow and later it will feature some cool black flame designs. We kept the elements separated by sectioning the model into light and dark tones, the example being the bright pinkish skin framed by the black armor. This color scheme could easily fit on a slaneesh or eldar model and it's a fun exercise to see there colors on something that's a bit opposite of what those armies represent.

We have much further to go and I'm looking forward to what this project becomes. Those first moments are always a blast, choosing your chromatic battle plan.

I hope you're all able to find some time to paint this week :) Cheers!

Since I watched Sir Galahad video my "basing" life is changed! I'm keeping all the bits and pieces I find around, I've got mini recycled sauce boxes filled with junk and with two kids and a backyard I've got plenty of treasure junk to collect and paint, who needs a 3D printer when we've got a whole world to paint?
