The extensive amount of writing on the subject suggests that a character doing "a take" was a staple of animation at some point in time, but I do not remember the last time I had to animate one.
Not the most exciting shot, but I enjoyed the task of trying to make nuanced acting happen, just by sliding around a bunch of circles.

I'm trying not to give away too much of the film's storyline on this tier, but you may have already guessed that this gif, is a character reacting to the thing he saw in the previous gif.

And in the NEXT shot, I think I finally get to introduce what may be considered the "main character", and get on with the central idea of the film that all this other noise is built around!
We're now far enough into it, that I can actually imagine this film being done at some point. There is a finish line- it's still behind the horizon, but I know the way there!
