Didn't write very much today, but I still managed to add 515 words to my project, bringing the total to 8,214!

“They’ll be busy with the feast and getting the guest suites ready,” Addie answered, stopping to peek around a corner before they continued on. “There won’t be many on this side of the castle.”

Ayden chose to believe her. There was a chance, of course, that the maid could be leading her into a trap. But she hadn’t left Ayden’s side for a moment since she made her declaration of war. Unless she had some innate magical ability to communicate over far distances, there had been no chance for her to set up an ambush. Even if they did run into a servant or the guards, Addie would likely be in even more trouble than Ayden would. Ayden was still royalty, despite everything. Addie was a simple commoner. Ayden would be locked back up in her tower. Addie, at best, would face a lashing. At worst …

It was a lot more than her mother was willing to face for her.

They slipped out of the servants’ halls through a portrait door just outside the library. As predicted, the guards were nowhere to be seen. Ayden let out a small sigh of relief. Now they just had to make it out one of many doors.

“Your Highness?”
