Renalia's Timeline (Patreon)

Before getting down to the nitty gritty of writing, I wanted to fully timeline each of the girl's stories. Here's the first of my lovely ladies' stories. 

Please keep in mind that despite doing my best, I will very likely Not keep to this timeline. My characters tend to do whatever they want to do, and I find it easier to let them run free than to try and wrangle them and end up with writer's block.

• Prologue: Runalis,Capital City,  First day of spring, Renalia’s 16th birthday
  • Renalia’s birthday gala grinds to a halt when a demon prince in the form of a kitsune visits with his younger son 
  • The prince is an ally of her father’s, the current king of Runalis, and has come to give Renalia a gift
    • That gift turns out to be his youngest son, Iroha, as her first consort
  • Her father is uncomfortable with the idea, as Renalia’s mother was a demon, and she disappeared over ten years ago
  • Renalia accepts the ‘gift’ anyway, solidifying the alliance between Runalis and the kitsune’s realm
• Runalis, Capital City, mid-spring
  • Renalia is 20 years old. Her time to ascend to the throne is drawing near, but she finds herself lacking allies and consorts
  • Her kingdom’s royalty follow the Harem System: a practice of taking multiple consorts to represent the monarch’s love for all their subjects
  • Without consorts to prove her loyalty to all of her kingdom’s people, she could easily be passed up for a distant cousin, especially after her father’s blatant disregard for the system
  • And without allies, those distant cousins might still take the throne from her by force, consorts or not
  • She turns to the kingdoms of Abheinne and Ericordium for said allies, inviting the current heirs of the throne to a summer ball
• Runalis, Capital City, mid-spring
  • Prince Zephyr, currently Renalia’s only ally, introduces a slightly older noble to her - the scholarly Me’tis
  • Renalia spies an opportunity to gain another consort, and welcomes Me’tis as her personal guest in the palace and grants him full access to the royal library...except the magical tomes. Those he has to earn.
• Runalis, countryside, late spring
  • Renalia goes noble-house-party-hopping for the season, participating in tea parties and soirees
  • Imagine your nosy aunt asking about all the things you don’t want to talk about
  • But a good dozen of them
  • And all of them with political clout
  • This is where she catches wind of dissatisfaction among the nobility as women gossip amongst themselves when they think she and Iroha aren’t listening
    • Mainly thinking she’s not fit because of her demon heritage and her less-than-ladylike tendencies towards fighting
    • Also the lack of consorts
  • It is during this time that she convinces her bodyguard, the second son of a noble family, to be her second consort
    • Cadell, her bodyguard, is tsundere about the whole thing
    • Iroha finds the whole thing hilarious
• Runalis, Capital, first day of summer
  • Renalia greets Alwyn and Corona before the evening ball, inviting them to tea
  • The three girls bond over their courtly responsibilities and the courtly jerks that make things difficult for them
  • Corona eventually breaks down and does the overshare thing, telling the others that her parents have kept her isolated to keep the court from finding out about her magical powers, which are frowned upon in her country, except in very specific military applications, and plan to marry her off to the son of a diplomat from a country with a poor reputation
  • This would strip Corona of her throne, leaving it to the diplomat’s son, who is bound to run rampant over the people and land
  • Renalia and Alwyn promise to help in anyway they can
• Runalis, Capital, early summer
  • Renalia proposes to Me’tis, locking him down as her final consort, bringing her harem up to the required minimum
  • This, supposedly, will guarantee her the throne
  • During this time, she receives a wedding invitation from Corona, and a desperate plea hidden within to help her
• On route to Ericordium, mid-summer
  • Renalia and Alwyn meet up on a private airship heading south to Corona’s wedding, and swear to object to the marriage, willing to fight if necessary
• Ericordium, capital, mid-summer
  • Corona is set to be married, and finds herself near panicking trying to find a way out of it
  • Renalia and Alwyn manage to catch her alone for a moment, and promise her that they’re going to object, and give her a moment to expose her parents’ treachery
  • Renalia suggest implementing a harem system like in Runalis, to keep such a thing from happening again
  • Renalia and Alwyn object during the wedding, leading to a small scuffle during which Corona defends herself using magic, exposing herself to the nobility
  • She banishes her mother and father, along with the ambassador and his son, and changes the wedding into a coronation ceremony
• Runalis, capital, late summer
  • Renalia, having gotten comfortable with her position, receives concerning letters from Alwyn and Corona, speaking of movements by the rival nation just outside of Ericordium’s territory and sudden disappearances of military resources under the care of certain northern nobles
  • Renalia sends Cadell and Iroha to check on her own dissenting nobles, only for Cadell to be captured by his own noble house
  • Renalia receives a ransom letter, letting her know that she would only get Cadell back if she abdicated her throne to a distant cousin who is a favorite of certain sects of the nobility, but known for being spend-happy and exploitative towards her fiefdom
  • Renalia sends letters of her own to Alwyn and Corona, letting them know she’s gearing up for war.
• Air ship, neutral territory, late summer
  • Renalia, Corona, and Alwyn meet up and begin strategizing
  • Renalia calls upon Iroha’s father to bolster their armies
  • Alwyn offers to take a single squad of soldiers to rescue Cadell
  • Corona suggests drawing their enemies into a naval battle in the sea between the northern edge of Renalia’s kingdom and the southern edge of Alwyn’s
    • This sea is known for being rough and unpredictable, especially during the transitional period between summer and fall
  • Corona would then swoop in on Alwyn’s sturdy airships with a squad of magic users
• Runalis, capital city, late summer-early autumn
  • Renalia is reunited with a saved Cadell
• Runalis, on the northern border, early autumn
  • Renalia, Iroha, Cadell, and Me’tis face off against a combined army of Runali nobles and soldiers from the Republic
  • Renalia is joined by an army of demon’s from Iroha’s father’s dominion
  • Epic battle ensues
  • Battle ends when an injured Renalia captures three of the leading nobles and threatens to kill them and raze their ancestral lands to the ground unless they call for a surrender
  • One of the nobles is killed by a Republic soldier, leading to Renalia and the dissenting nobles to combine their efforts to drive the Republic soldiers out of Runalis.
  • When the battle ends, Renalia turns to the nobility and informs them she’s still throwing them all in jail and taking their children as her wards so this never happens again -- at least not to her
