January Poll : Round 1 (Patreon)

Round 1 of January's poll is here and will run for 24 hours, concluding tomorrow January 4th at 10:00 AM Pacific time. We had over 35 eligible suggestions this time around!

Check out all the candidates and vote for which woman you want to see me draw the most. Votes will be tallied up after the round 1 poll closes, with Big Burger and Full Combo Patron's extra votes being added to your original choice. Patrons in those tiers who did not suggest a character or suggested one that didn't make it into the polls will receive 1 extra vote.

Afterwards this month's round 2 poll will be posted featuring the top 5 candidates from round 1 and this month's winners will be announced when that poll concludes on Wednesday the 5th.

Don't get me wrong I love Tifa and look forward to whatever she gets this month, but girls like her and Samus will always dominate polls and their inclusions are so pointless they should be just automatic pieces outside of polls because I can't think of a poll they don't automatically win in. They should just have a yes/no poll of their own and left out of popularity polls. Or at least if a single pick hers such an extreme landslide like this then it generates an additional pick for that month or something.

It’s just how things go, my guy. People want her, so they’ll get her. I put in Aerith because I want more art of her, but it’s a community poll for a reason. Metal has to serve the greater community.

I understand that, that's not what the point was, I didn't say don't do her I just said her inclusion is pointless as it WILL be yes, it's a law of constants, and throws polls off. If a single character takes up the vast majority then at that point they should get pulled as an auto winner and let everyone reroll their votes or something. People just get frustrated seeing characters get put in polls that get no chance because an ultra juggernaut gets thrown in that will always suck up the majority of votes so it basically automatically disqualifies half the poll the second they're added.

I understand what you mean Sarah. It's the reason why I invoked a special rule for just last October to not allow any previous winners all the way back instead of the normal 1 year. I do plan to do that again at least once , maybe twice this year too. I will give a whole month's heads up of course. That being said we should respect other people's choices.

I'm in the same boat with you, Sarah. When everyone else wants to see Metal draw someone who either may not be popular or someone not often drawn especially by Metal, someone will ruin the poll by adding someone popular. I know it can't be help, but it's still annoying when someone suggests a popular character whose gonna be chosen. Look at my suggestion, Risley Law from Fairy Tail. She only got 1 vote

I hear ya SonicMania and like I said to Sarah I will use that special no previous winners rule sometime again this year. But in all due respect I don't know if that is true. The poll's purpose is to gauge feedback from Medium Soda patrons and higher to see who everyone wants me to draw next. We must respect other people's choices and who they vote for.

Here’s the thing though Sarah, Sonic; Tifa hasn’t been suggested in a while - I think the last time she was in the polls was over 2 years ago (and she didn’t even win first). The whole “law of constants” thing doesn’t feel like it works here IMHO since, to my knowledge, she hasn’t been a constant submission from the 30+ people who create poll suggestions the in the first place - much less a constant dominator in the polls. I mean, you’re not even really saying what basis Metal should have used to determine Tifa would be an “auto winner” (it can’t be cause she’s an FF-VII character, since her friend Aerith’s in the poll and didn’t do half as well - it can’t be ‘cause she was a constant submission, since her her previous win in 2019 means she’s been eligible for over a year either without anyone previously suggesting her or without making it to the top ten). I’m not trying to be mean, dude, but I feel like you can’t say Metal or anyone else can easily predict an arbitrary winner like that - I’m sure there’s times a person can make a reasonable *guess* a character will be popular, but that’s never a guarantee and it can change with the trends/what's most popular ATM. At bare minimum, I don’t personally know how Metal was meant to assume “auto-winner” or “assuredly popular” for a girl who (to my knowledge) hasn’t won or even been submitted to the polls on a constant basis during the past year she was eligible for. For anyone reading; sorry for the mini-thesis. TL;DR, though; I don't think it's fair to say how the polls turned out could have just been assumed, or at least that I don't see any way to have ever had the assurance needed to arbitrarily hold out guaranteed wins. And I say this as someone who regularly suggests RWBY gals, so it's not like I'm defending my waifu here ^_^;

In all fairness, Tifa's been eligible for the polls for the past year - and in all that time, she's either not been suggested by the 30+ people who make poll submissions (at least not on a regular basis) or didn't break into the winning tier. And even if she had been one or the other... well, that's what a vote is. Not fair IMHO to begrudge people for liking what they like, much less punish them for it by muting the suggestion arbitrarily (and I say this as someone who's not even an FF fan) ^_^;
