A quick update, unless I start rambling. I'll try not to. Busy day, and I want to try to get some work done before conking out.

Also, Winky the Pirate Cat is being super needy and looking for attention. Oh, wait, that's every single ding-donged day. She's lucky she's adorable.

First off, the good news is that I'll be writing a new Beasts of Burden mini-series. This has been planned for some time, but got held up while I was taking a break from published/scheduled comics, and then negotiations went slowly on the what, when and how much. Things apparently got resolved today and everyone's hopefully happy. Not sure of the schedule, but it will be a little while before I dive back in for various reasons (catching up on commissions and our current life situation, more on that below). We had originally planned for a series of one-shots under the title "Animal Tales" (themed around storytelling, and stories being told by various animals in the cast), but I ditched that idea recently after some reconsideration. I realized that between breaks and the last two mini-series being about the Wise Dogs, we needed to get back to Burden Hill and concentrate on the main cast and storyline. Since I'm so close to the material it's easy to forget how the stories follow one another over the years and how they can be less focused for readers. So, everyone agreed we need to stay in Burden Hill for all four issues and push things forward while reaffirming where we're at. This means switching out one or two of stories, and minding the overall throughline. Which is what we usually do in the series, only these stories will concentrate less on the "gang" and more on specific characters and incidents. Unless they go places I'm not expecting them to. That happens a lot. "What The Cat Dragged In" started out as a humor story, a Lovecraft parody/satire, but ended up as a depressing flipside of "Lost" (something-something bad childhood and failed parenting, rather than fear of losing a child).

Anyway. Rambling.

And...something glitched out and two thirds of this rambling post disappeared. Sorry.

I am really pissed off. It's reverted to a saved version from an hour ago. Fucking hell. I have to remember to write these things offline.

More soon later.
