I'm not much of a fan of this movie, it's not awful but it's kind of a mess. I want to like it but I just don't, tried it twice and the plot holes were more glaring on the second viewing. Maybe the Director's Cut(s) is better and smoother, but the released version is still made up of stuff Barker wrote and filmed. And a lot of it is just messy and awkward, especially the larger action scenes at the end. It doesn't matter how you organize or edit iffy footage filled with stiff acting, awkward dialog and an instantly dated design sense. I mean, that fucking Mac Tonight monster is the worst, I can't take any scene he's in seriously. All other arguments aside, when you have two dozen or so heavily made-up monsters in your big monster movie, and the most striking and effective design is a guy in a trench coat wearing a stretchy rubber mask with button eyes, something's off. It's a funky-looking serial killer get-up, even if the character seems to not always fit into the story. He's important to the story, he's integrated into things, but somehow it still feels like a parallel plotline, or something shoehorned in, rather than something organic. Maybe it's just me on that one. All these monsters and also a serial killer, bit of an overload or distraction, structurally. Anyway, that's my two or three cents.

Hope I can catch up and clear all 30 of these by Halloween. It's something to do. I still need to deal with my computer situation, I want to post the unused comic plot we did for Boom when they had the Duck license. And the Batman Beyond "Splicers" script as a PDF. We gotta get into the old files that are still trapped on a hard drive. Or is that in a hard drive. I don't know.

More soon later. Hope everyone's doing all right out there.
