I used to try to announce our convention appearances with quickly-done one-page comics. I was thinking about these because of all the recent news about shows and events shutting down across all fields, and how I was planning on doing some work-related traveling this year after not setting up at all during 2019. I had a signing planned for this Wednesday for the Marvel Snapshots debut, another signing being lined up for summer, and I'm assuming the convention I was set to do in a few months is not happening -- I doubt I'd attend even if they somehow kept it up and running. I recently turned down an invitation to Heroes Con -- our home-away-from-home show -- because I can't see it being a good idea, as much as I was happy to be asked and as much as I would have liked to attend.  I'm supposed to be doing a show later in the season, but I wouldn't be surprised if most (if not all) events will be canceled this year.

This is a far bigger strain on creators who depend on income from events and from event planners and workers themselves, not to mention workers at venues and the like. I feel fortunate that we at least aren't going to suffer any bumps due to these cancellations but of course wish others well who factor event sales into their plans. Hopefully folks can work out decent on-line sales and/or commissions to help things some, at least they'll be saving traveling costs and stress. And hopefully folks can get refunds on what they've already put out for tables and tickets. Holy crap, what a mess everything is.

Health, safety and sanity to us all and all we love.
