First, I'd like to thank the folks who have signed up for the Patreon since I last posted. I had very low expectations (no, really?) and they were more than exceeded. I feel like all I'm doing is typing the word "thanks" these days, which is, of course, better than typing "I'm sorry" all the time. Or, "I didn't know it was loaded".

The point of this post is to ask what you might like to see here, as far as the blog goes. Everyone here is able to view and read my blog posts, and I'm curious what you're interested in reading about. Some prompts wouldn't hurt, and I'm always open to suggestions. This Patreon is a two-way affair.

So, what would you like to read about? Comics, animation, illustration, ye olde days, an opinion or five, whatever comes to mind, please feel free to let me know in the comments. Longer posts about process will be forthcoming, and largely open to higher tiers, but I want to spread things out a bit. And also figure out how posting works, as far as images with text goes. Or text with images.

I'm working on a few things right now I can't reveal or discuss, but I have a lot of recent and old work, scripts, artifacts and anecdotes I'm willing to share. Some of them are slightly mortifying and have been locked away for decades. For an example, if this post works correctly, below is the first page of a "bible" I made for my first creator-owned series, Pirate Corp$!. It is pretty embarrassing, but the enthusiasm and deathly serious attempt at world-building is something I think we all can recall from our youth. Or, yesterday. This is like looking at one of my role-playing notebooks, or early sketchbooks, all of which have been long-destroyed (unfortunately). I'm not reading this first bible page, so it will surprise me as much as seeing a photo of a high school haircut and some really ugly clothes.

Everything starts from somewhere, and this was my idea of starting out. There was no internet, and I had no clue how you went about it. I think my influences back then would have largely been RPG books and supplements, Star Wars and Tolkien's endless detailing. Although what I remember mainly trying to accomplish with this material was to set it straight in my head so I could have some reference for working on the issues. Of course, much of the "bible" changed pretty quickly, as Pirate Corp$! evolved and became Hectic Planet, and my approach to the series changed. At this point it was way more "Star Wars with jokes" (and band references) than what it became later on (with band references). If you like this sort of thing, I'll post more of these early career wince-inducers. I scanned the originals many years ago because they were falling apart. Rubber cement and typewriter ink, those were the tools back then for a fumbling cartoonist...
