I held off on doing a wip post for each of these individually because something in my head still wants to batch together smaller scale projects like the emotes. Dont know if I'll keep to doing it this way in the future because I didnt like the not posting anything I've been doing the past few days. That and how do I do wip thoughts? If I do these individually in the future I can give a quick thought for each emote, but this current grouping is too many so I'm just going to ramble on a bit about things

-First character (black and white skunk fox) poses a few unique hurdles that I'll have to try and solve proper when it comes to lining / coloring. Their paws and pawbeans are the same color! Normally not at all an issue for my style, but in emotes I dont like giving pawbeans an outline because it doesent read well at an emotes size. This makes the boop sticker a bit tricky- maybe I'll try doing a blur / smudge as if its against a screen

-Second character (Yellow tanuki critter) was very fun, but really reminds me of a critical flaw in my art process. I hold a sona's ref as perhaps *too* sacred. Whatever style the character is presented to me in, I end up latching onto. For this char their headshape was more flat and squished than the usual style I do for emotes. I found myself fighting with interpreting their side fluff too closely to how the ref had it and making it all fit, rather than genuinely adapting things and trusting my own judgement.

-Final character (Tan mouse) mostly has an issue with overdetail. Some people are getting these emotes to primarily use as telegram stickers, which is fine, but I strictly stick to maintaining an emote style to avoid falling too far into adding details like I might on a sticker. For this char, the glasses are a sore spot I'm still not 100% on, because they need to be distinctly bigger than the characters eyes, while not so big they feel ridiculous or take up too much of the frame. In most of these the glasses still kind of cut off some details in ways I dislike by making really small segmented colored areas inbetween lines. Maybe line coloring will really help this but- I'm gonna need to put some focus into finding just the right size and positioning for them during the polish phase

Emotes! Going to get these 3 sets (and 1 more thats been sketched for awhile) all done as my next projects. A few people in emote queue have asked for updates and its signaling to me that I really need to just *do* them all, so, yeah. Do them all I shall! Ther'll be a small pitstop to tackle other projects and sketches in the midst of the emote rush however

Ciao!
