Sorry for the slight delay! My sleep schedule is upside down again.

ABOUT THE CHANNEL

  • Work on our Christmas video has begun. On this channel, I have a nasty habit of taking even the simplest of films way too seriously. This Christmas, I want to just relax and introduce you to a funny comedy. We'll see if I can make a lighthearted video, or if I'll delve into religious practice in Japan for the second time in Christmas.
  • We are currently host a poll to decide which videos we'll cover for January. If you haven't, you can cast your vote right now on the pinned post. "The Autobots" and "The Eight Hundred" are currently neck and neck. I'm tempted to cover both! If only I have enough time.
  • If I do that, one of those video will be replacing a February video. Originally I planned two romance movies for that month: 2003's "Turn Left Turn Right", and 1996's "Almost a Love Story". The former gives me an excuse to cover a Taiwanese film, an industry that I overlooked on this channel quite often. The latter is arguably one of the biggest romance film in Hong Kong. Which one would you keep?
  • For March, nothing concrete yet, but I recently discover two films, one Chinese and one Korean, both made from the same script, but one turn out way better than the other. It's an excellent case study. It sounds like a fun video topic.

STARTING A SECOND CHANNEL

  • Would you like to see our short films?
  • Over the course of my quote-unquote "film career", I've made a few short films. Although only two, maybe three of them are good enough to be shown.
  • The first one is my final year film school short film. It's a mockumentary about a toilet stall door, and the "debate" between art students and engineering students on who has the rights to doodle on it.
  • The second one is my first independent produced short film. It's a thriller about 4 people in a room, trying to find a fair way to share a box of money. Simple as that.
  • I also made some video arts, abstract stuff. But those are so... modern art, I don't think it'll be very popular with mainstream audience, so those will likely be kept in my personal channel.
  • With 2020, I wasn't able to make a new film, and my older films have ran its course in film festivals, which means now I can upload them to YouTube for public access.
  • So, I'm thinking of starting a new channel, and upload the two films I made. It isn't going to be a very active channel, but I do have 2 more short films planned in the near future, so hopefully 2 more short films in the next 2 years.
  • If I set the bar of quality a bit lower, I can also start making short animations, in the same vein as the opening of our Shin-Chan video (but a bit more elaborate). It'll likely be short, 2 minute videos about life stories.
  • Alternatively, I can start making "ponysmasher" style 1 minute short horror films.
  • And I can also upload other films that got into festivals, but I don't think are good enough to be put on my portfolio.
  • So, my question is, would you be interested in seeing our works? What sort of quality would you expect from us? And if I were to start a second channel, what other types of content you'd like to see on there?

And that's the update. Sorry for a shorter update this time, since there really isn't much going on lately. New videos will be up a few days before Christmas. I hope you have a great time leading up to the holiday!
