Synopsis/Description:

From the Suggestion Thread (https://www.patreon.com/posts/44639845 for those who are mildly curious):

@RachNSFW  and her GF Laura enjoy some cuddle time! Laura has taken umbridge with Rachel's description of her however, and decided to test the limits of the word "cuddly"... What do you think?

The Rant:

Sometimes, I like to chase down my $10 patrons on Discord and bug them for suggestions!  Not just because I need ideas, but because I don't want them to forget WHY they're paying $10 to me, instead of just $7 (or even $3). Sometimes, I forget which perks come with the tiers I'm subscribed to on Patreon, and its better to be reminded, rather than forget, decide its not necessary, and then lower my pledge. I know that most of you would already have downgraded if you felt it necessary, but I'm paranoid like that.

So, anyway, I went to bug Rachel and this is what they said:

"I don't really know? I enjoy being surprised occasionally ^^; I've definitely gotten a lot of leather/latex based commissions, and they're great, but I also have ricocheted back and enjoyed a simple tape [muzzle] and basic rope bondage occasionally.
If you need more of a character archetype, Laura's definitely of the cuddlier variety"

In doing some research for Rachel and Laura's character types, it seems that Laura takes a playfully dominant role, while Rachel subs. What also struck me was what Rachel quoted Laura as having said later:

"She just told me that she heard that and will keep it in mind ^^;"

So, I figured it'd be fun to spin the doodle as a follow up to the actual conversation! I'm told it was pretty accurate to real life, so it all worked out!

As far as process goes, I decided to migrate from IbisPaint X to Procreate. Much as I love Ibis, the brushes are inconsistent with regards to fidelity, especially at the resolutions I work at (1000 pxl x 1000 pxl). Something that looks great when I'm working on it will look slightly blurry when I render it out, which is embarrassing, no matter how great the quality of the drawing.

Also, because of being iPad apps, both apps are limited in how much they can render, and they put hard caps on what you can do in different ways. Ibis limits you to 4K x 4K, which isn't bad (especially for what I want to do), but if I'm going to be using the iPad for commissions and/or eventual printed content, that's too small (11in x 17in @300dpi is 3100px x 5100px for example). So I've migrated to Procreate, which instead puts a cap on how many layers a file can have, based on how big the resolution is (35 for for the aforementioned hi-def 11in x 17in). I think this will be a lot better, assuming I can work out the kinks in the brushes (which, for some stupid reason, have hard caps on how big default brushes can get).

As for the actual process of the drawing, it was pretty standard once I got a feel for what I was doing. It helps that every program basically can do the same thing, and once you figure out how to do it, your process snaps back to its usual format rather quickly.

That being said, I wasn't entirely happy with the initial final color render, so I used the airbrush to do some touching up. I'm not entirely happy with that either, but I do like how mushy, squishy and cuddly it makes everything feel so, so we'll see if I can't tighten it up for future doodles!

It maintains a sketchy quality even in the colors, which does work out pretty good in this kind of setting. And hey, it's never a bad thing to remind people they do, in fact, have some perks and input! The content is cute, and it's a good time of year for such cheery feelings.
