It's #NabTober (better name pending), and @lipucd's Zetta makes the mistake of assaulting Nabby, rather than Abby! Easy mistake to make! Unfortunately, once made, its a mistake not easily corrected!

The Rant:

This was a fun one, though admittedly there are a few under-the-hood things that fascinate me.

Storywise, when laying in colors, I'm actually kinda surprised Zetta makes the mistake she does here. In pencil, Abby and Nabby have identical body types, but in color, well,... really, Zetta? That's my fault as the writer, in not accounting for color. Only Abby is canonically that stupid, but I think this is still fun.

Speaking of color, this wasn't actually intended to be as monochrome as it appears. I have migrated to full color, but both Nabby and Zetta's color palettes are primarily purple. Also, while Nabby is nude, Zetta is both clad in purple and her hair fur is a different shade of purple, so this strip came out looking monochrome! It got me thinking about my monochrome process and whether, when it was active, I should have worked on diversifying the pallet? I think it works here, and could have worked there as well.

I also wish that Nabby's faceplant and head twist had been one image instead of two, mostly because I think its really hard to read Zetta's freaked out expression from the back. Because most of her cranial signifiers (her ears, jaw) are hidden by her hair, it makes it hard to read when you don't have the context of the rest of her upper body. That might just be my poor illustration skills under deadline, tho.

Also, on a lark, I decided to migrate programs from Adobe Animate CC 2017 to  Adobe Animate CC 2019.

Context:
I started using Adobe Flash for my illustration work because I don't have steady hands (which gives me wobbly lines when not using fast strokes), and at the time, stabilization tools and plugins like "Lazy Nezumi" didn't exist, so Flash's brush smoothing was the next best thing, and I've stuck with it ever since. The problem is that every new release, from CS3 to CS6 to Animate CC and beyond, has a different brush AND brush stabilization. This basically results in having to relearn how to paint every few years until the brush stabilizes. As such, I've been loathe to switch versions, with the occasional dabbles.

However, when watching a friend's stream with the new version and making progress, I decided to give the new one a shot, especially since I'll be getting my mobile station back from the shop soon and won't be able to download my preferred version (TL:DR, Adobe lost a copyright conflict, and as such, are not allowed to distribute that version of Animate ever again). So, I might as well get used to it.

I like how this strip turned out. The brush is... interesting; better in some ways while not fixing the existing flaws. We'll see what I think going forward when I start animating with it.

Well?
What do you guys think?

I figured the color issue between Abby and Nabby was just an effect of her seeing a silhouette and pouncing. Abby does have darker skin and in shadow she probably would look rather dark... I do and I'm a night shift worker, so I'm functionally sunless from late summer on! It very much looks like a dusk picture. From Zetta's hair standing up on end I got that she was pretty freaked out too. Wouldn't have guessed that you hopped programs, by the way.

Really like this sequence, looks so good ... did not know you had used a different program than usual, just figured it was the usual tools you normal use because your style is so distinct :)
