Subatomic Dice Depository! (Patreon)
Content
Howdy, wonderful people!
The Subatomic Dice Depository is a neo-retro-industrial container with a hefty hinged lid with a screw thread closure and a lot of gratuitous texture. But more importantly, it prints with a slide-out drawer for organising dice!
There's also a lower storage tray!
And there are two widths! (print dimensions are listed further down)
Also, there are undivided drawer versions, for non-dice-related purposes.
Print Description
This is an articulated print, so you'll want to make sure your first layer is nice and neat, your bed adhesion is on point, and that there aren't any print issues such as overextrusion or stringing that might bind moving parts together!
Print Dimensions
There are two sizes, regular and wide.
The regular version occupies 173mm x 181mm on the print bed and is 106mm tall.
The wide version occupies 245mm x 181mm on the print bed and is 106mm tall.
Supports Needed?
Not at all! Designed for straightforward printing!
Scalability
The tolerances on this model are all reasonably generous, so you could try scaling it down! However, there are plenty of bits that would quite quickly go wrong if parts ended up binding together during the print! Suffice to say that this really is not made to be scaled :)
Print Orientation
The Subatomic Dice Depository prints with the lid open, like so:

Further Thoughts
There were some interesting problems to resolve in order to get this one working, and it took a long time for this thing to finally come together. The bit that took the longest wasn't even the drawer - it was the wall that stops things falling in behind when the drawer is opened!
In the meantime, other models were coming and going, and design concepts from those trickled back into this one. The original closure was a geared handle that drove a rack gear with a magnet, which was cool and all, but it wasn't nearly as secure!
Anyway, happy printing, wonderful people!
