Howdy, wonderful people!

Stackable boxes are just the best.  These vase mode boxes are an exploration of texture and layers in vase mode, and are made to stack in somewhat industrially-inspired columns.

Most models have some key feature that drives the design, and in this case it's the layering of the I-shaped outer panels over the vertical ribbing underneath.  That would be trivial in regular printing, but vase mode of course requires a little more care and consideration to ensure that each layer doesn't differ from the one below it by more than a small amount, and to ensure that there are no inadvertent air pockets to confound the slicer.

That aside, though, let's talk stacking.  Certain assumptions need to be made when having one vase mode model fit inside another, and that assumption is wall thickness.  These boxes allow for a 0.6mm gap at the point where the two pieces stack together, and have been tested with 0.4mm layer widths.  Going wider than that might cause some drama!

Further Thoughts

All this stacking makes me wonder if it would be possible to make stacking vase mode bricks!  That would be really neat, though how one brick could sit across the boundary of another and still sit inside it will be the problem to solve....

Happy stacking!

Hello, I tried to print this via Prusaslicer, but when I slice the model it shows up as being solid on the inside, not hollow. Also, there is no opening on the top or the bottom. Any suggestions?

You'll need to select the vase mode setting in Prusaslicer! Look for the Print Settings tab, then check the box for "spiral vase" under "vertical shells" :)
