Bobble Tub (Patreon)
Content
Hi there, wonderful people!
You might see some conceptual parallels with the Arboreal Vase here! Like that vase, this Bobble Tub is a vase mode model that plays with the idea of depth illusions in the outer perimeter. Well, it's not really an illusion at all, there really is a great deal of depth there, but the illusion is in the appearance of those bubbly bobbly bits on the outside, which are of course still connected to the main body, that being a fundamental constraint of vase mode!
The tricky thing with this one, not surprisingly, was making all the little interior corners into nice angles that wouldn't leave giant gaps in the print! If you look closely you'll see where curves cease to curve and instead run off on linear tangents that keep things friendly for vase mode slicing.
One thing I'm never really sure how to anticipate with these kinds of models is how they'll actually feel to pick up once they're done. Texture tends to add rigidity, but loosely-connected parts provide flex, so it's always interesting to find out what the end result is when the thing is rendered into a really-real thing by the printer :)
Print Description
This is a vase mode print, so set your slicer accordingly!
Print Dimensions
The Bobble Tub occupies 185mm x 84mm on the print bed, but will happily fit on a 180mm print bed if rotated to 45 degrees. Height-wise, it's 109mm tall.
Supports needed?
This one's vase mode - no supports needed!
Scalability
The Bobble Tub, like most vase mode prints, will scale just fine!

Further Thoughts
Filaments used in these prints: eSun eSilk PLA Magic (green and blue) and a three-colour filament from GNVTNTP.
I'm endlessly fascinated by what we can do with vase mode, and I still love just watching it build up so quickly (by 3D printing standards at least). It helps that all these new multicoloured filaments make it all more fun as well :)
Happy vase-moding!
