Hey there, amazing people!

The start of March seems like a long time ago in a different world.  We're all in different parts of the globe, but I doubt any of us have escaped the impact of what's going on right now.  Let's hope that things don't get too much worse for many of us than having to stay inside and try to stay positive.

Staying hidden away is one thing, but thanks to all of you I'm not feeling so isolated :)  If there's one thing that's a shining light right now it's the abundance of support and eagerness to help in any way possible.  So, if there's anything I can do that might help you, just ask ❤

But let's talk about the month of designs and prints!

You'll have just been spammed about two new designs, the Unfolder Hex Box and the Flex Clip Box, but let's look at some of the things that meandered off into disaster!

Look at this cog thing!  This wasn't a complete disaster, just a feature that needs a purpose and form to provide a bit more stability.  The big ring has teeth on the inside and outside, allowing linked cogs to run both outside and inside.  It works, but it's wobbly and really needs at least one more cog on the outside in order to be usefully stable...

Oh, but I've skipped the image at the top of this post!  More cogs, this time four individual lid pieces connected by cogs to drive them all together.  It's an idea that can definitely work, but it needs a bit of a rethink.  The version I ended up with had teeth that were too small and too much play in the hinges, which means the lid pieces easily ended up out of sync.  But hey, that's exactly how the Chomper Box started, too :)

This next one looks like I was trying to style something after the Tesla Cybertruck.  Believe it or not, this was an experiment with another water feature, this time based on "rain chain" type dynamics.  The trick with this is in adjusting weighting so that the bucket tips and resets appropriately... we'll have to see where this one goes....

Last, but not least, I made a small addition to the Vault Box - see the little wheel there?  It's slots into the small cog, and provides a vaguely amusing way to open the latching pins without turning the big cog.  Of course, the wheel turns the opposite way to that which intuition suggests :)  The STL for this one is in Vault Box folder.

As always, I looooove seeing photos of prints, on socials and on our quiet little discord server, so keep those coming!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support, encouragement and enthusiasm, I can't tell you enough how much it means to me.  Onwards we go! ...into a not-so-isolated isolation 😁

xoxo
