Hey hey hey!  I'm really having fun with print-in-place hinges at the moment, and this is the craziest little box yet!  It's a hexagonal, er, gem shaped thing with six independently-hinged lid segments.  And, once again, no supports required!

This thing went through a few iterations before it ended up here, mostly around adjustments to the lid pieces to ensure that they didn't catch on each other at different points of rotation.  You'll see a few other subtle bits in the design, though, like a thin band on the inside of the hinge that makes the lid pieces close to exactly the right spot, vertically.

I originally envisioned this as a pie-shaped box, but when I printed a test version in white it was just too obviously a snowflake, especially unfolded!

You'll find this model (which is exclusive to you, my wonderful Creative Printer tier supporters!) under the Snowflake Hinge Box folder on dropbox (see link on the front page) - enjoy! :D

Printed great. Well designed and a great print. I used a translucent blue and looks beautiful. Printed it for my daughter... she loves it.

Fantastic! I like the idea of a translucent for that design 😁

Lovely design. Printed well and joints moved easily right off the bed.
