Yo I'm pretty sure I'm reaching but in the song Seattle, Lupe has that line about a lighting a fire with a thumb swipe, the first thing that came to my mind was the Tinder app as the logo is a fire but you swipe your thumb to match with someone and essentially start a convo which would be "lighting a fire" between two people. Although it doesn't connect with the context but just something I noticed.

Ms. Mural: The saxophone sample Hank Crawford - Wildflower (1973) Used also by: 2Pac - Shorty Wanna Be a Thug Eminem - No One's iller (Slim Shady Ep) Kanye - Drive Slow (Late Registration) J cole - Dreams (The Warm Up) Reason - Drive Slow (There you have it)

Lupe is criminally overrated. When GOAT talk comes up, he really needs to be in the conversation as far as writing ability goes.

Lupe has a way of sonically delivering an existential crisis into your psyche. A much needed societal autopsy i'm here for. Brilliant Project. Btw: That 1 line verse had more reflective impact than Drakes entire project 🤧

This album was fucking incredible. I'd never heard a full Lupe album before, but I knew he was an alien. That run of Precious Things, Kiosk, and Ms. Mural was mind-blowing, and the last song was a perfect way to finish the album. I think other than Seattle (which was still not bad), I really liked every song. I loved both Push's and Kendrick's albums, and I might be getting caught up in the moment, but this might be album of the year for me

Naomi is the tennis player that’s married to cordae. (Idk if they’re married but they go together) so he’s playing on the scheme of “swing” “field” “felt”

Dope reaction. Kinda slept on Lupe for awhile but this album brought me back

nick.

darae so smart

Top 3 albums for me. But please listen to some other full lupe albums, imo this is only his 4th best. F&L, the Cool, and T&Y are his best 3 imo

Used to print out Lupe lyrics in school and annotate them, and listen to his albums on repeat on the bus rides in middle school. I remember I analyzed Hurt Me Soul for my 8th grade English project on poetry.. he's been my favorite rapper for so long that last year my friends got me a Lupe Cameo as a birthday gift.. to be a decade and a half in as a fan and to still receive masterpieces - it feels like we're not worthy. Thanks for breaking down this album, y'all are my favorite reactors by far. This is def the album of his that feels most concise yet deep and I think it's a result of him not letting that powerhouse of a mind run too long.. Drogas wave is incredible but it should have been 2 albums, T&Y is still my personal fave but it def wasn't as wavy and easily replayable. But to me he has at least 5 albums that are 9s or 10s. My fave rapper of all time

https://riffmagazine.com/album-reviews/lupe-fiasco-drill-music-in-zion/ Love this line from this album review: "There’s a story that Picasso once drew a picture on a napkin for one of his aficionados, and then asked for an absurd amount of money. When confronted that it took him merely five minutes to make, Picasso retorted that it took him decades to be able to complete such a work in five minutes. I thought of this story when listening to Drill Music In Zion, the eighth album by Lupe Fiasco." This is exactly how I felt when listening^

I think the sax melody in "Ms. Mural" sounds like the ones in "Drive Slow" from Ye.

One of the dopest things about this album to me is that the vibe is so good, his rhyme schemes are like another instrument in the music. Even if you don't want to try and catch lyrics, his flow keeps you captured inside the music.

Ok, I'm glad I saw this reaction. I know nothing about Lupe Fiasco. I need to be out on. And what other artists also have similar drill type beats?
