The new build continues to expand on the town and the starting events of the game. Three new areas have been added and a new major character is introduced, the Warlock Master! There's also sounds now in the game and you can choose between a few different character skins starting out. Please keep in mind this is still in early development and the scenes, characters and areas will be improved and expanded upon in the coming months. Now that I'm starting to connect the story line from the beginning of the game with the dungeon there are some inconsistencies, these should be resolved in the coming month though.

There's now an option for the protagonist to bottom during the scene with Ash in the night, with new animations.

Some fairly big changes with this build so please let me know if you encounter any bugs while playing and feel free to give any feedback you may have.

Keyboard Controls:

  • WASD or Arrow keys to move
  • Space for Jump
  • Left Shift for Special Action(ie "Crouching" used with the slime form)
  • Left Ctrl for Dash
  • E for character screen (Class, Equipment)
  • Q for item quick menu (outside battle)
  • ESC for game options menu(only quit game for now)

Debug hotkeys may cause sequence breaks and game stopping bugs, use with caution. (If you don't want to play through the whole dungeon again to watch the scene with Ash, go into your bedroom and hit F2.)

  • F2 (While in the dungeon) plays a secret scene with Ash
  • F4 Skip scene, can skip through dialogue and scenes
  • F8  (While in the dungeon) Skip to final boss (hit esc and resume to unlock after using)

Controller can be used but it might be a little buggy right now (The selection cursor may disappear, use the mouse to select something again) See the input tab when you run the game for more options.

Is there a save button yet for the game?

monstersouls

Sorry not yet. I haven't worked on it because the progression is still going to change and I'd have to reset it each new build anyway. I could see the value in some temporary progression saving if it doesn't take too much development time. The game is getting longer but you can still skip scenes if you need to. I'll look into it soon.

There is still no sound? How can I turn it on?

There was another bug with controller where just having it plugged in made it very difficult to use the Quick Menu because it rapidly flicked back and forth between the options, making it impossible to click anything. This persisted even after unplugging, but starting the game up again with no controller it was fine.

Finally got a chance to play the new demo, and I love all the new additions. The world feels much livelier with the new music and sound effects, and I like that we're getting some character customization (also curious to see what further options you've got planned). It's also fun getting to see the beginning of the story foundation being laid. And on that note, thank you so much for adding an option to Bottom for Ash. I really appreciate being given a choice, whether that be to switch things up, like in this case, or in future cases, just to back out or take a third option. Too many games assume the Player/PC is Vers, and it's refreshing to not be forced into that. So thanks again.

Anyway, some bugs and feedback. I ended up breaking the demo twice this time around. First, in the dungeon with the slime who's supposed to give the Hero his access to the Slime class, I was able to actually kill the slime. Think I just got lucky with a few crits, but maybe might be wise to limit the amount of times the Hero can successfully struggle to three or something? And I'm not sure what happened the second time, but in my haste to get back to where I was after having to quit to desktop, I fell through the floor immediately after leaving the Hero's house. Other than that, two small little notes. Right now, the crickets for the night track are a little much. Might help to make those a little less frequent. And not something I'd expect to see right away, but I think item and skill descriptions would be helpful in the future to figure out what does what. But that's all for now. I'm very impressed with all the progress, and I'm excited for what or who we'll get to see next month!

I agree with the above regarding the Ash choice, it was a nice feature. Overall, loved the prototype a lot, great work so far. The character models are perfect, it was really love at first sight with this game for me. Really hoping for more content with Buddy and Rogue soon 😉

Thank you for the feedback! Those bugs should be fixed now and ready for the next build. The slime battle should be entirely reworked in the future but for now I'll make it harder to kill and make sure the class is added regardless. You can check this list to see if I've got everything accounted for https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UATVDAgb0QH1wA_MK9G2-Wlrm3x7e1tvsqLkK4HkcE8/edit?usp=sharing

Hi Monster Souls, taking the opportunity to congratulate with you for the game it's a must 😉 I enjoy so much your animations, everything is very wonderful and exciting. Only I don't understand when and how the scene in tavern with guys starts. Waiting your reply XOXO

monstersouls

Hey thanks! The tavern scene is still in development, sorry for the misunderstanding.

2021-07-10 18:47:45 Just played through the August build (on Mac) and loved it! Things ran very smoothly, didn't encounter any bugs, and I really enjoyed the content thus far. The art style is great and the combat / exploration mechanics are working really well. I know this is in early development, but I think it's look brilliant thus far! I'm thrilled to have an adult game that looks great and has amazing gay content – thank you so much for all your hard work on this! <3

Absolutely loved the build. This is the kind of game I would love to play more of. Keep up the amazing work!
