Just some small stuff to think about with mouths: In the reference art Tails has very specific cute mouth shapes. In the first image I've pointed out some things that can help achieve some of this appeal. I don't know why but that sort triangular tooth shape looks really cute, so you can rotate or distort your teeth to get it. I didn't try to get a side mouth yet because he's in a neutral pose, but that will involve literally pushing his mouth to the side with the move brush and masking/transpose...

The second image is sort of a "when in doubt" list of things to do when a character isn't looking to your liking yet:

1. Check the size of the eyes. We tend to make them too big or too small. Pay attention to how they feel in relation to the rest of the face though.

2. Check your eye spacing: how far apart eyes are makes a huge difference. In this case I think Tails needs them closer together similar to the reference.

3. Check your head height and torso heights. This again makes a huge difference. Tails doesn't have much of a neck but I would add that for characters who do.

4. This is a major one: check the muzzle size compared to the forehead or upper head. In a lot of cases it becomes too big and wide, on a cute character you generally want a bit of a bigger forehead with a smaller muzzle area; there needs to be a triangle pointing down from the head to the chin.

Seeing these side by side, can really feel the difference. Nice work, great tips!
