Hey guys, thanks for the reaction! You have not watched the outro yet, so you can do it next episode if you have the time. So, we are officially in the entertainment district, a.k.a., red light district. It is quite the change of vibe, compared to the locations of season 1 and the movie. As for the age of our guys, Tanjiro and Inosuke are 15 years old, if I am not mistaken, and I believe Zenitsu is 16 years old. Nezuko is one year younger than Tanjiro. And finally, Uzui (the Hashira) is 23 years old, if I am not mistaken. Rengoku was like 21 years old. As we go along, I will tell you the age of the other demon slayers, so you get an idea. But to sum up… Yes, they are too young to be there. I don’t think it was prohibited at all, just a matter of common sense, at least for us in our day and age. Once again, for reference, this anime is set in Japan before WWII. As for the show being weird, with all that of “kids” becoming courtesans and all that. For us it is, but do not forget that this is set in the past, in a time where it wasn’t such an abnormal and taboo thing. Also, Geishas are part of Japanese culture, even nowadays. But in present time, they are not as common and not all of them have to be prostitutes, since they do perform and are “masters” of fine arts (like theatre, poetry, dance, etc.). But at that time, it was perfectly normal to have an entire district dedicated to the “night life”. Regarding the wives, Makio was indeed the one at the end, who is captured in those ribbons. She is the one in the same house as Inosuke. Then Suma, who is also missing, is the one at the same house as Tanjiro. Finally, Hinatsuru is the one in the same house as Zenitsu. We see them in the intro, but in the actual episode, the only one we have clearly seen is Makio. Regarding the disappearance of courtesans. I am not sure they ever say it directly, but besides the point that you mentioned (which I also think is one of the reasons) I believe it is because they would be more appealing to demons. They would be beautiful and intelligent women, with a lot of talents. They would of course, have to be healthy, young and have a good figure, so they take care of the appearances a lot. All this would mean they would have fresh flesh and blood, which is better for the demons. As to why would demons choose this district, you will get more on that in the future.
