I sat down to have a little chat over coffee and it devolved into me analyzing my own feelings and state of mind as the seasons change.

Get a blanket and warm drink for this one. Maybe even some nice music, I recommend Bon Iver.

Loved hearing your trail of thought with springs. Tension was a big theme in this so I'm wishing you a tension-less holiday season Girl!

I personally love winter but I am from Canada. Winter for me is peaceful, things slow down, and I like the cold cause Ive always run warm so it's easier for me to put something on. For summer its hard to run from the heat, everyone wants to do something, family wants go to camping or fishing all the time.

I feel that, different families have different expectations. I hope you have a nice slowed down winter ahead!

Fix

Well I still got a few chuckles out of that last stretch when you get all nerdy, so it's fine that you didn't cut yourself off. Wow, you really never know what's going to come out when there's no plan, eh? It's so fun just to get a little taste of the real GID without a filter now and then. Definitely sympathize about the tension thing too. I've always been lucky to have a family that doesn't turn holidays into a stressful ordeal, and yet I'm still a little disappointed to be going back to the ritual get-togethers instead of just staying secluded like last year. If only there was a (harmless) scare at just the right time to keep everybody home in December itself, but still allow for non-holiday visits as usual... oh well. Hope the traveling is safe and any plans are as non-crazy-making as possible. Also couldn't agree more about the Bon Iver, which is such a fun name to see you suggest, considering your attitude about actual winter. That self-titled one is one of the best of the '10s in my book, but funny enough it always feels more like a summery thing to me (probably because that's when it first came out). Also also, i,i turned out to be a slow grower that I've gotten to like way more than expected at first. I'd probably put it roughly even with For Emma in an apples/oranges kind of way.

My proposal for the seasonally appropriate Bon Iver calendar, at least for those of us in the Upper Midwest of the US, is as follows (open to suggestions): First Fall Day - First Real Snowfall: “For Emma, Forever Ago” First Real Snowfall - Christmas: “Bon Iver, Bon Iver” and “Blood Bank” Christmas - First Day Above 30F: “22, A Million” First Day Above 30F - Easter “i, i” Easter - First Fall Day: Not really Bon Iver season

Fix

So For Emma isn't a dead-of-winter thing in your book? Fascinating. I could only put it in that post-Xmas slot (maybe extending back to Oct), while 22, A Million really feels fine anywhere on the calendar.
