Terra is a world filled with people, and where there are people, there are belief systems. At least when compared to our world, religions on Terra are based a little more in fact than fiction. Alongside many verified accounts of historical events written about in each religion's scripture, some individuals are walking proof that their gods exist.

The lines between Terran myth and religion are incredibly thin. Terra has many religions that resemble some of our own, and many more that resemble some from our past. The ancient Greek, Egyptian, Norse, and other pantheons each have hundreds of thousands of devoted followers, some of whom even rely on those gods for their spellcasting abilities.

A number of artifacts from these celestials are in possession of followers, with many more having been scattered to the winds over the years. There are people who have devoted their lives to hunting some of these treasures down, some devout followers and others just looking for an item of power. There are even people who claim a lineage to certain gods, though as the years have gone on this has gotten harder and harder to prove.

While the gods may be real, the same cannot be said of all of their fables. They simply can’t be, with all their discrepancies and contradictions. It’s these disparities that lead many religions to fight. While most of the day to day population is happy to agree to disagree, some factions have waged entire holy wars over differences in opinion and perceived slights.

You would think that having the gods around would help clear up some of the confusion, direct communication with the celestial realms has been cut off for thousands of years. Instead, it is up to the head of each religion to interpret what they believe to be their gods’ will. Some view this “representation” with a fair amount of skepticism, but as there have been many instances of divine spellcasters being cut off from their spellcasting when acting against the interests of their beliefs, at the very least we know someone is watching.
