So!

I've been trying to think of something to do with the various DiD sketch sets I have kicking around that feature backup superheroine Emerald, who appears as basically a dark-haired, maskless variation on Emp's tattered-suit design (and modern-era physique) from Empowered. Technically, the character predates Emp as a DiD commission subject by quite some time, but that's another story I'll address at a later date (well, maybe).

Recently, my ever-mercurial muse abruptly informed me of a wacky yet strangely compelling narrative concept into which I could twist and repurpose the Emerald sketch sets. I can tell you, dear readers, that this approach to a suspiciously distress-prone superdamsel will wind up treading rather different territory than Empowered, though conveyed via similarly heavy (if not even heavier) doses of cheesecake.

Much like some of the earlier Rose & Lily sets, this non-comic story format will feature mostly random DiD sketches slathered on with plenty of new text conveying the narrative proper, such as it is.

Previous installments established, via the narration of conspiracy-theorizing supervillain Deathmasque, that distress-prone heroine Emerald was by far the favorite "superhottie" of the so-called "dark-cape community"—to a possibly anomalous if not inexplicable degree. As his ranting continues, howeva, ol' Deathmasque finds himself imperiled in our newest pages:

BTW, good thing that the shots of straitjacketed Emerald were finally at an end, as I was getting real sick of drawing that imagery.

Whatever might Deathmasque be reacting to? Let's find out:

Lordy loo! What does this mean???? The Emerald narrative will continue down the road, never fear, possibly next month.

In the meantime, a rough prelim sketch from that last page, as my first two stabs at sketching on the original page went awry:

Also, recently stumbled across a much older Emerald rough page, as you can tell from the much "bigger-headed" figure proportions:

I started to redraw this page for an Empowered scene a while back, but that too came to naught. Am amusing art detail: Note that this is one of very, very few attempts I've ever made to render the shading on an Emp-suited backside with the light source on the far side; instead, my useful but very limited rendering scheme always lights the "toothsome rump" in question from the opposite angle.  (Never quite got around to branching out from this simplistic shading riff with Life Drawing practice, alas.)

NEXT UP IN DISTRESSED DAMSELRY: Our next DiD-content posts later this month will likely feature more page roughs from that "Elf vs. Chair" scene from The Chaste and the Chained, and then a brief but (arguably) refreshing return of s'more Rose & Lily content.

NEXT TIME ON THIS HERE PATREON: No idea, TBH, but something should be coming up in the next M/W/F slot. Let's find out together, shall we?

When you get down to it, there's not much difference in an imperiled super-heroine waifu and an imprisoned super-villain husbando. If the choice is between incel and in a cell, I know what I'll take.
