So, from the late 90s through the early 2000s, I would occasionally knock off fairly loose Dirty Pair-based DiD sketch sets (for a generous friend who appreciated the art style) drawn mostly on the back of 11" X 17" photocopies of penciled original pages from Gen13 that happened to be kicking around my studio space. (Er, the photocopies, that is; the original, inked pages are filed away safely, if not in an organized fashion.)

Side note: Sometime down the road I'll get around to scanning the Gen13 side of these photocopies for future posts; in the meantime, you can observe the vague shapes of the original page's artwork under the DiD sketchwork.

Anyhoo, I usually drew the sketch sets in two tiers across the double-page spread of the folded photocopy, which makes for an awkwardly formatted image, as seen in the merged scan:

The odd bit about this set is that I'm pretty sure this was originally a reworked version of a much older sketch commission from the mid-90s, which featured the ill-fated Deirdre, Shasti's partner in 1989/90's miniseries Dirty Pair: Dangerous Acquaintances, in a similarly perilous hazing situation. (I've done more than few DiD commissions of the Sonoda-esque Deirdre over the years, though none in recent history.)

Sometime in the early 2000s, I revisited this layout with my art style of the era, and Yu--nay Lily subbed in for Deirdre:

After digging up this set recently, I scribbled some Rose & Lily text onto it and scanned the piece:

On the Rose & Lily front, I clawed most of the way through Cintiq-ed (digital) inks for my first finished page of the Rose & Lily: Flowers of Peril fantasy RPG DiD story,  only to stop work as one of my more annoying drawing-hand issues painfully recurred. (Oh, well.) Still, sometime later on the month you'll be seeing pages from those CSP test pages, never fear.

UPDATE: In fact, this old-ish set recently came in handy as reference, given that I'm attempting a revised design for a new-to-you character emulating the figure proportions and cheesecake approach I used when drawing cute girls 20-odd years ago. (Note that I'm doing this in a cheap attempt to differentiate her from the feminine physiques of the half-orc, half-elf & human mage from The Last Party.)

You $5+ folk will be seeing more—in fact, a lot more, in multiple senses of the term—of this character shortly, as she's taken over the role of the Hushed Half-Elf now that the latter chica has moved on to a different role in The Last Party. More on this matter shortly, but the Bigger Spenders of the $10 & $20 tiers have already seen the mid-2000s commissioned comic that originally spawned this heroine:

..and a recent illo revisiting the story's couple:

After a kind Patron's comment got me thinking about these two FRPG-ish characters again for the first time in many years, this dormant, "goofy-but-flirty" DiD premise once again sprang to life and, lo, here comes yet another g-d fantasy project.  Stand by for new character designs and sketch sets shortly, folks!

NEXT TIME ON THIS HERE PATREON: Dunno exactly what the content will be, but something should be going up in the next M/W/F slot, okay?

You should do a book of new DID stuff, it's really good.

Come to think of it, I know of at least one semi-prominent outfit that probably qualifies as a BDSM Pre-Nanoclysm cult.
