Following up on Tuesday's post of the initial B&W work stages, here are the final colors (and my uncharacteristically minimalistic color guides) on a mid-2000s cover illo I drew for a sourcebook from the pen-and-paper RPG Exalted.  A helpful commenter looked it up, and the book's full title appears to have been a sprawling affair along the lines of Exalted: The Books of Sorcery vol. IV—The Roll of Glorious Divinity: Gods & Elementals, released October 24, 2007.  Lordy loo; colons ahoy! (Ahem.)

Excellent colors on the piece were provided by the stalwart lads of Guru eFX, who have worked on many projects with me ranging from Dirty Pair: SimHell Remastered to Empowered to this year's Venom: The End. Hats off to 'em for tackling such a ridiculously complicated piece with such outstanding results! *doffs Duluth Trading baseball cap*

TOMORROW ON THIS HERE PATREON: Very likely another dose of Vintage Con Sketches, folks!

Played this RPG back in the day with friends and I was real pleased you did the artwork on this resource book for it. Good times

The amount of characters on this piece is insane. Did you have references to base all of these on? Or did you just go nuts?

adamwarren

At least a few are based on characters from existing EXALTED artwork, but with most of 'em I was just a-wingin' it.

Hey Adam- For something like this, when you know a piece will be colored, do you take into account all of the costume colors to spread out the colors and avoid big patches of the same color??

That looks a bit like Infernal Service Provider in the upper left 😀.

adamwarren

Nope! On this piece, at least, the colorists , Guru eFX, had free rein (for the most part) to color the characters however they wished.
