Got 5 g-d minutes for this post; clock is tickin', folks!

Behold, the initial B&W work stages on a mid-2000s cover illo I drew for a sourcebook from the pen-and-paper RPG Exalted. I think the book's title was either Glorious Divinity or Games of Divinity; no time to check right now, alas.

Thursday, check back in for my color guides and the thoroughly badass final color artwork that, happily, I did not have to do myself!

UPDATE: Crap, this commentary took 10 minutes. Ouch!

TOMORROW ON THIS HERE PATREON: Some kinda Distressed Damsels content for the $5+ tiers, though I'm not sure right now exactly what said content might be. Let's find out together, shall we?

I just went and checked, and the full title is "The Books of Sorcery vol. IV—The Roll of Glorious Divinity: Gods & Elementals ", released October 24, 2007. Also, is that Sistah Spooky I spot in the center of the illo holding a spear? Guess this could be one of the alternaverse versions.

Your Exalted covers? Extremely good stuff, and they were actually the thing that led me to finding Empowered and your other work in the first place. Seeing your style's take on characters in the setting always felt fitting and on-tone, even if it wasn't common to the line's other artwork.

This is lovely. I see a lot of late-70s Kirby, especially the LORD OF LIGHT illos, in some of the costumes, especially the 2 at bottom right. Am I just imagining that?

Bring on more of your Exalted work if you have it!

Not specifically, but as Kirby was one of two most important childhood influences (along with John Buscema), not a surprise that Kirbyesque design riffs have recurred throughout the rest of my life as an artist.

Understandable you would mix up on the title - Games of Divinity was a 1e Exalted book you also did the cover illo for! Always liked seeing your work there, and the fantasy/superhero/sci-fi aesthetic of Exalted worked well with you art.
