September art requests for the $5 tier! (Patreon)

This month, I'm getting an early-ish start on soliciting some art requests from the fine folks in the "Golden cookie jar" Patreon tier!  All 54 of you $5 Patrons* have a rather outsized impact on my monthly total,  so I figured I might as well give you a separate post to make your suggestions for topics.  Fire away! 

As before,  down in the comments section below, feel free to suggest any characters, intellectual properties, or situations that you'd like to see me draw during the rest of the month, as time allows. 

The resulting sketch sets will almost certainly be in the Procreate art app, as it looks like this week has seen the final demise of my old analog-pencil art technique. (My wrist is still burning after one g-d life-drawing session with 5B leads a day ago.) Gotta redouble my efforts to familiarize myself with working digitally, looks like!  

Working in Clip Studio is the endpoint, I think, but I don't yet have a proper set-up to run that program; need to invest in a serious PC and a big ol' Cintiq, first. Might make that a Patreon goal, come to think of it!

*Should be noted that I'm nosing around $20 or higher tiers, but haven't yet figured out what further benefits those could entail. Guaranteed art requests, maybe? A cameo in my next comic? (That one's complicated by the problem that I don't know when or what my next book might be.) I'm already sinking a lot of time into this Patreon as is, so I'd have difficulty tacking on another time-intensive feature... Hrmm.

Sucks to hear about your health problems. If you think about a guaranteed art requests tier, make it worth your while. As for this months request, Power Girl DiD.

As I’ve seen other artist do on Patreon, you might want to consider limiting the number of $20 tiers, especially if you do any guaranteed art. As for my request this month Jean Grey as the Black Queen DiD, but only so long as you feel up to it. Your health is more important any request I have. Take care!

I'd be interested in seeing some non-DiD cheesecake Emp, with a mostly intact suit, with the excuse that it gives you some time figuring out how that suit shading oughta work in digital form. Should be interesting whether or not the attempt works out! Not sure if I'd be able to bite on a $20 tier, at least not at the moment because I'm in the UK and the exchange rate is absolutely tanked so I really have to watch what I spend overseas.

I'd recommend limiting your Patreon specific rewards like guaranteed sketches, as those end up being commissions which can weigh on your mind every month. I see it a lot from other artists, they usually regret offering options like that on their own Patreons. If you *are* gonna offer something like that, please consider kicking it up to something that is actually worth your time and added stress. Something like a 50-75 dollar tier.

Agreed that you should be careful about the budgeting for guaranteed rewards. Would love to see Rain Mikamura from G Gundam.

I'd love me some more Hushed Half-Elf, especially of the two lovers. As for higher tiered rewards, you have to price and limit it accordingly. Say you wanted to test the guaranteed request, make maybe 1-3 slots at $20+ and see how that goes. You could close at tier at anytime, if you feel like you can't full-fill it in a coming month (just give people a heads up so they can change their pledges).

I'd agree here. A limited number of slots, maybe "easy sketch" at a cheaper price and "full lineart" slightly more expensive.

Hey, don't sweat it, as I certainly don't expect very many folks to go for a $20 tier. And I did wind up doing some DiD tests with Emp's suit, as you might've seen. (The sparkles work, but the rest not so much.)
