EMPOWERED's cast, Arthur de Pins style (sorta), pt.2 (Patreon)

More sketches from 2015, featuring Emp and friends (and enemies) from Empowered drawn in an extra-cartoony  style inspired by the adorably superdeformed cheesecakery of the French artist Arthur de Pins. (Part 1 here.)

...Yeah, I don't think DiD (damsel in distress) imagery works particularly well in this style. (Oh, well.)

Honestly not sure if the "nosed" version works better than the Pac-Man-ish "noseless" iteration. 

Anyhoo, this weird little riff ran its course as I was working on Empowered vol. 10, never to be seen again. Unrelated to this cartooniness though, is an early bit of life drawing from photoreference which I spotted in the EMP10 folder, its file lurking adjacent to the dePins sketches:

Needed to work on Emp's belly, folks! I wouldn't begin sketching from photoref in earnest for another year or more, though.
