Behold, big spenders, a li'l damsel-in-distress weekend bonus, featuring a handful of easily posted Empowered pages! Most of these pics either appeared in a short, out-of-print sketchbook I dubbed Empowered: Extra Sketchiness (all images from which will wind up posted here sooner or later), or were slated to appear in a never-published sequel edition.

The inked piece above was done for a commission based on the mildly infamous 1978 cover to Spider-Woman #6, which depicted Jessica Drew being similarly menaced by Werewolf By Night in a scene that did not actually take place in the issue. (Note that the text at lower right poses an interesting question: Can such an image really be "gratuitously titillating" if said titillation was arguably the entire point of the commission? Deep, man.)

Next up is a commission based on a better-known Rocketeer image with a pose that's very, very tough to pull off (well, the Rocketeer part, at least):

Next up, a sadly overdialogued 4-pager, based on a scene I cut from Empowered vol. 6 in which Emp justifiably complains about the suckiness of distressed damselhood:

Lordy loo, was the lettering on that last page difficult to pull off; I had to break out the ol' Ames lettering guide, which I always hated to use back in my Kubert School days of hand lettering. (Note that said lettering was based on fonts from the earliest pages of The Onion's book Our Dumb Century.)

Anyhoo, this category's DiD content will mainly be concentrated in weekly posts with big "image dumps" of sketches and pages (such as Hushed Half-Elf pt.2, next week), but I'll toss in some quick weekend posts like this from time to time, okay?

Emp's flight of fancy while she's stuck bored is too much fun. It's part of her charm, though, and why she's so darn easy to root for -- teasing a few other fun adventures she could tipsily tell Ninjette about what she'd do with the Delorean from BTTF! XD
