Trying something different today, by digging up a mildly salacious 2002 Dirty Pair con sketch colored by my buddy Ryan Kinnaird. Huzzah! A so-so sketch by me at best, but Ryan did a fine job on this tossed-off squiggle, especially on Young Kei's flesh tones. (Gotta say, the wildly overstated, glowing "saliva string" between their mouths cracks me up perhaps more than it should.)

In fairness, this isn't actually the Dirty Pair per se, as it's supposedly depicting Kei and Yuri years before they joined the WWWA and became disaster-prone Trouble Consultants. And it's certainly not canonical even to my own version of the characters, as the final miniseries (Dirty Pair: Run from the Future) showed that they wouldn't have worn turn-of-the-21st-centuryJapanese schoolgirl uniforms when they were in school (in AD 2141, mind you).

Ah, but I had drawn the Lovely Angels in anachronistic schoolgirl outfits before, as seen on this commissioned con sketch that appeared on a Run from the Future back cover:

Anyhoo, enjoy this random change of posting pace, won't you?

Meanwhile, I'm hoping to get a "state of the Patreon" post (and poll?) out over the weekend, mainly to query Patrons about what they'd like to see more of, but also serving to alert y'all to a new content category that's about to appear in the higher tiers stating in July.

Loving all these sketches etc Adam! Have always hoped to run into you at a Scottish con (or elsewhere in the U.K.!). One of these days I’m going to have a piece on my wall I hope!

I assumed that was some kind of fiber optic cable linking sensory inputs...

I am in total support of more of this kind of art (and more DiD)! YUM. The coloring is very nice as well. Ready for the poll and tier changes, count me in!

I actually think there is a way to (sort of) make this fit into canon. No-Prize level nonsense incoming... Clearly, this is a snapshot/still showing off one of the "...unauthorized interactive simulations featuring the Lovely Angels(adults only)" mentioned in Fatal But Not Serious as being on display at Kei 'N' Yuricon. Totally reasonable to have "turn-of-the-21st-century Japanese schoolgirl outfits" show up as fetishwear long after they're out of practical currency, that sort of thing happens all the time. Supporting the proposition, "Kei" and "Yuri" are clearly interacting with someone out of frame, presumably whoever's plugged into the sim (and probably intended to play the part of their "teacher" and "punish" them if I had to guess.) PS: As a drawing representing a still frame sample representing an interactive simulation, this is actually a convention art depiction of a convention art depiction of convention art and therefore qualifies for the coveted "Artception" status. PPS: Not sure it was a high-WIS idea to advertise unauthorized adults only simulations of Kei and Yuri in a venue containing the actual Kei and Yuri. If ...events... hadn't distracted everybody, I suspect that certain objections might have been raised at some point.

If I may quote, "Impressive! Most impressive." Gotta admit, I'd long ago forgotten about that stuff from "Kei'n'YuriCon '41," which really would allow a wide array of material to be considered canonical to my version. Well done!

Always happy to see you draw the Dirty Pair ... whether canonical or not ... 😉
