As I recall it this is a reworking of one of those little things that I post almost daily on Fictionmania.  If I see something that contains the kernel of a story I often scratch that out then and there, and if there is a bigger story that may come later of its own accord, or be demanded by my audience over there.  The suspect of a crime going into hiding in drag in an old theme, but here given my treatment with I hope an unexpected twist?

Another enjoyable romp, Maryanne. I chuckle to think that, in a society with different attitudes toward gender roles, this would have made a great, campy TV series about a forensic accountant. "Noella Harkness - Lady Accountant." But, if you actually do the research, there have been several TV shows where the main characters are 'forced' to dress up as women. The earliest one I can remember in the U.S. was "The Ugliest Girl in Town," which actually replaced Batman on ABC in 1968. The inane plot had a young guy having to pass as a woman in order to remain in England with his girlfriend. Suspending disbelief, he becomes a popular model, rivaling Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy! It was cancelled after half a season.
