Some of the stories that I write are re-imaginings based on real lives and facts, and this story is based in pre-war and wartime Germany.  It shows how a totalitarian regime can so quickly shift a society from non-judgmental liberalism to intolerance through a leadership that spouts hate.  It seems to me that there are parallels today?
