Did the village getting destroyed happen when she was 5? I thought I saw a panel that said "35 years later" so I thought maybe she was 40 even though she looks five still

That 35 years later was for mother caramel that had nothing to do with big mom. Mother caramel met big mom 35 years after that thing with the giants about to be executed. Which was 100 years before the current timeline. This is also confirmed during the flashback when they mention dorry and broggy starting to fight before those giants were captured.

You can really see them doing their research when they take inspiration from different nationalities. The giants must be inspired by the Vikings in Scandinavia. We also have a sweet called Semla that is usually eaten in February. And in the old tradition, you eat it the day before fasting. Now you can pretty much get them year around but most eat it in early spring. X)
