i think the first few episodes are more chilled so that the viewer gets a good image of all the characters.

Yeah Lucy is definitely the main protagonist the story is told from her perspective. Natsu is the main male protagonist but he's more like the mascot of the series. And to answer your question the series does actually have a main storyline and the fun adventure episodes are mainly just the first 20 episodes or so. The character development and world building take a very long time to develop but they do happen eventually down the line. The main storyline takes a bit long to reveal but it will come. There'a a ton of foreshadowing along the way before revealing main stuff

So, as far as main characters go, I think the creator said it was Lucy, but the way I like to view it is that the “guild” is the main protagonist. Also, anyone from the guild hits Happy, he deserved it

Yes, Lucy is the main character, but the group is the main focus. There is always shenanigans happening when they adventure. Like other have said, there is a main over all story and multiple arcs. It is just a good overall fun story. I don’t get the hate either. And yes, there is fan service for the ladies in this one. 😁 I find Natu’s motion sickness endearing. LOL It makes him more real in my opinion. He has all this huge awesome power, but stick him on something that moves and BAM he is normal just like the rest of us. If I think about it, I think most characters in this anime have something like this … just not to this extreme. How long before Ruff gets a Happy to accompany his Chopper son in the background?

it does rap up the arcs in a nice big story , also the formula is very similar to black clover , people bitch about black clover being a naruto clone but in reality its a fairy tail clone if anything, there are even straight up same characters, the fan service does get super bad, to the point of being unbearable to me , especially when its literally sexual harassment

So both are the mc, the reason its kinda confusing is because they show lucy in the anime first. But in the manga natsu was the cover and more the focus.

Fairy Tail is very much Lucy's story, in that she's the point of view and the narrator, but she's telling the story of the guild as a whole focusing mainly on the adventures of the team she is a part of which is team Natsu (Natsu, Happy, Lucy, Gray, Erza). It reminds me a lot of the dynamics in books like the Great Gatsby where technically Nick is the narrator and main character but he's not the main subject of his own story.

Its Lucy story/journey throughout Fairy tail the guild, i always say the guild itself is the main drive forward without it all just falls apart and usually Natsu is the main force behind the guild cus its always for Fairy tail and the family therein at the final point. P.s cant wait till Erza's backstory arc its gonna be fucking great watching you spiral down the fairy tail hole

Just a little fact, the author dad unalived himself in the manga. The next episodes make up a small arc then the arcs will get longer and have all the world building and all that jazz. Just remember that the fortune teller said to gray, " you'll have trouble with water and women."

if i had to name a problem with fairy tail that would be the ending of the series, it just seems like mashima stop giving a fuck about the series in the final ark and that is a shame

Yes it definitely has a storyline with depth and an END game with the plot developing over time similar to one piece. It also keeps the fun spirit of adventure while adding romance and plenty of moments that will have you crying. Knowing how much you love One Piece, I’m sure this will be one of your all time favorite by the time your finished. Can’t wait to go on this adventure with you!

Yeah Fairy tail is super fun to watch and has some really engaging plot lines. I'm one of those people who think it ended terribly and really wasn't good at all in the last portion (sorry guys, I still respect you if you liked it), so to me comparing it with One Piece in terms of writing is absolutely wild, but I mean it's still a good ride and I'm excited to see your reactions to it. Especially because I've only read the manga and never seen the anime, so that should be fun (at least those 4 first episodes were!)

Mashima has named his main characters after the seasons. In Rave, the main character is named Haru, which is Japanese for spring. In Fairy Tail, the main character is Natsu, which is the Japanese word for summer.
