What was going through my mind when I was watching this? Since I caught up during Arlong Park (yeah I've been watching that long) this arc was really hard to watch. It didn't resonate with me nearly as much as Water 7/Enies Lobby (which is still, for me, the peak of One Piece) and week after week it was Luffy running while shouting "ACE" and it got really old for me. I LOVE Whitebeard but watching Luffy run while shouting for his brother for 3 months was hard to watch and not in a good way. Yes other things happen but it's essentially a massive stalemate with either side taking turns displaying some badassery and I was just sitting there waiting for something to happen to move the plot forward.

Michael Royal

really? i find marineford the best arc of teh show, enies lobby is pretty boring lol

Liam Love

I have been a fan of one piece for almost 20 years and I remember what it was like to read Marineford weekly. Reading it weekly sucked.

Clyper

Whitebeard had such an epic voice actor. RIP Kinryo Arimoto! You did an amazing job!

DarkPirateKing

I'm always been kinda conflicted about the Haoushoku Haki bcoz it's just way too convenient to have around. That is, if it was used to even a fraction of it's full usefulness (never dealing with fodder ever again) . I obviously know WHY he's not doing it (would be pretty anti-climactic), but it's always in my mind. Don't care about it THAT much, but it's something. I mean... Whitebeard could have done that any time he wanted and knocked out 99% of the people there. And i bet he has enough mastery of it (unlike luffy) to only target the marines. I know the fans have tried to explain it away with how sick whitebeard is or whatever, but that sounds like copium to me.

MomoDaGr8

Damn this new tier was a double edged sword Worth it

inpax

Coby is a better underdog than Deku

Spikà

Your genuine reaction is what matters the most.

On my first watch I thought that pacing was dragging on and it felt like luffy was running forever but then again the battlefield is actually quite massive, it’s a small nitpick otherwise Marineford would be my top 1, I can’t wait for when they do a remake with better animation

katabug0303

I’m scared for next video…. In more than one way

Anonymous

It's not too late to get that heart rate monitor. The stuff to come will still get it going.

Anonymous

Ahhh so you’re one of those toxic fans he was talking about

OneAnk

Man I recommend to re-watch whole Marineford to get some pretty interesting things you may have been missed and I recommend to watch uzumaki Khan Marineford over-reaction it will worth it a lot

Anonymous

I would agree, Marineford was the arc that created a lot of fans. It is definitely among most people's top 10

Nanach

You know whats happening when u watch week to week? You stop caring because you know it's gonn be 1 year until something happens, so you stop care and being disconnected from the show.

Juri Krebs

The waiting kills me ahhhh

MDFunkyCow .

This arc is where I caught up to the manga and I mostly remember waiting over a year waiting for info on the rest of the crew.

Joel Carmona

Damn if you calculate the days for part that we all waiting for is till next week 😩

katabug0303

I really hope not! My heart won’t be able to take leaving off at 482 until next Wednesday. Like a bandaid, just rip off all the pain at once

Some of Whitebeard's attacks are reminiscent of later Haki use, both Conqueror's and Armament. Hard to tell as no character highlights it when he uses those attacks (though Marco confirms Whitebeard has Conqueror's after Luffy uses it). But in my headcanon, what looks like Whitebeard using his Gura Gura on his naginata is actually haki. He blows a lot of people away without cracking the air over the course of Marineford. Seems to fit mostly. It's also hard to tell Oda's early intentions with haki here. Plenty of people are using it in this war. But the rules are a lot looser, I think. I dunno if it's confirmed Akainu uses it, but that could easily explain how he still guts Whitebeard despite us knowing Whitebeard uses haki as well. Tbh, I've never heard age being the argument used. I think that one is silly.

Nanach

Hancock also has Conquerors Haki.

Michael Royal

yea but they havent confirmed in yet.. at the point hes on in teh show so why would you spoil it lol

Justin V

CP9 were masters of the Six Powers (finger pistol, shave, tempest kick, etc.), but they're kind of like a soft standard for Navy soldiers, they'll probably learn a few but maybe not all. For example, Lucci's shave is probably a lot faster than when Coby or maybe even a vice admiral uses it.

Justin V

Oda has said that anytime he does a flashback in the manga, he redraws whatever panels he uses. He said he does this because readers are paying for a volume of new chapters, and reusing old panels would feel like he was cheating them.

Jahidur Rahman

If Ruff is any title it's Admiral Ruff

Watching this ongoing stress induced mental breakdown is incredible! And the best is yet to come!

The funny thing is, even though the anime and the manga has about the exact same amount of story in a week I still find the manga much easier to follow week to week. I've been caught up for about 5 years now and I still can't wait to get a new chapter every (or most) Fridays and Mondays ('cause I always read both versions).

Mateo Jones

i wish you were able to watch ep 481-483 in one vid:(

Anonymous

"Thunder Lord" McGuy is indeed a great name lol.

Pedro Reyna

i watch through reactions but id mostly done reviews like merphy and mark up till yours so i think its better or watching with someone else cause watching with what you know feels great

hurryupmode

Ooooooooh, man the next video with 3 episodes are gonna be a DOOZY

hurryupmode

I'm pretty sure he watched the episodes non-stop so I'm sure it had the intended effect with the story beats and flow. That said, I think the shocker in 482 is the cliffhanger of cliffhangers so 480-482 works out nicely as a single reaction video imo.

PacosTacos

I NEED THE NEXT VIDEO AHHHHH sigh ):

SomeoneElse

Duuuuude heart rate monitor would be AMAZING for reactions. That would be a first and undoubtedly something that would give people a reason to watch you over others. That's genius.

Anonymous

I would suggest doing 480-483 for the next reaction video cause 482 and 483 are linked to one another and it'll be great for us and you as well to do it that way but it's up to you in the end.

Anonymous

If I remember correctly coby has shave back at ennie’s lobby.

ERK22

He uses it in one of the eps in this reaction

AsuraRival

Rewatch, watch reactors, read the manga and then start again the loop, thats how the drug called One Piece works fam

What was going on my mind during this arc ? Well, fisrt a little bit of my story with One Piece, I cough up to one piece in episode 297, at Enies Lobby, after Chopper's monster point, but before Sanji's diable jambe. As I remember it. So i've been following One piece since 14 years now. For the fisrt almost 300 episodes i've been watching it with my little sister, and we did it in two weeks. We continued after a bit but it was too hard for me to have only one episode a week, so I paused One Piece every now and then just to have enough material to watch in one go. My little sister would continue to watch week to week so we did not continue this adventure together in front of our computer. But we would still chat about it every now and then, when I cought up to where she was. I end up reading the manga after the arc after this one. Been doing reading on paper since then. Whith fewer pauses, the pacing is better in the paper version making it feel like you actualy have a bit of the story in each chapter. Witch I didn't feel in some episodes, and it was a bumer to have to wait to get what felt like no progression in the story.

Glémot Annie

Posted before I finished my comment so here I go angain.

Glémot Annie

So I was telling about how I watched One Piece with my little sister at first, and the how we didn't watched together anymore... At some point, my little sister missing our time discovering One Piece together, dicided to pause like I did, and wait for a bunch of episodes to come out so we would watch together again. She paused if I remember correctly somewhere in Impel Down. So we agreed that we I watch again she would join me and it'll be like the old days when we first discoverd One Piece. At the same time, as I grow older, I became less invested in One Piece. Not that the passion had completly died, but I was an adult now, and One Piece despites its greatness didn't felt as entertaining as when I was in teenager. That's life. Anymay, At some point, I decided to pick back up. But forgot about my promise to my little sister to watch it whith her ! So whated it on my own ... such a terrible mystake, I regret that we didn't get to experience it together. Because this arc made me fall in love with One Piece again. It's this good. I was hyped again, moved again, laught again, everything ! Just when I cought up to the last episode available (the episode where shanks and his crew just arrived). Just when I finished it, my sister arrived (we didn't lived in the same house) and thinking she was caught up, I starded talking about what I just saw and how great it was. I was like " and when this happened, and this", and so on. Then I cought her demolished expression and I was like "what's going on ?". And she responded "you spoiled everthing for me !" I ruined her experience of that arc. We end up watching it together, althought I just watched It, but it is this good ! Still, all it was for her was a wait until this thing i've told her about happens, then this other thing ect... A total failure of what we've planed. It was really hard for her to have to wait this long too, she did it because she really wanted to experienced it whith me again and I ruined it. She never paused again... Luckily for me, she doesn't hold any hard feeling toward that episode of our life. Never reminding me of how I ruined the most exiting part of One Piece (according to many). I lost the opportunity to experience it with her too, but that's ok, cause we continue even now to chat about One Piece. Every week when I'm reading weekly, whitch I'm not currently doing, and oher wise each time I caught up. So this was my story around this arc. It was so good that I forgot about my little sister, our promise and how she was holding back from watching it... Damn, One Piece.

Glémot Annie

By the way, I French, so sorry for any mistakes in my wording of this story, English just not my first language.

immattd

As an American, I can confirm you write better English than most native speakers Also I saw the awkward spacing, if you want a new line you can hit *shift+enter*. Literally just figured that out while telling you lol

immattd

Wow, what a story. As you put it, that's life. But that's awesome you and your sister have that kind of bond, not only to think of each other but in a way where you know you can connect. And that's what One Piece is all about, personal connections and the dreams we have around them. Dreaming of watching and enjoying as a way to connect with your sister. I feel for you terribly in how you spoiled in for her, but if that's the case i'd like to congratulate her on making it this far without being spoiled on that. It's almost inevitable, but that's the beauty around that fateful event. Even if you know what happens, how it happens is still as riveting and emotional as it can be. And that's why One Piece is so good. Oda has known the end to the story since he started, and he's built the series to fit into the ending. Which is perfect for the primary theme of One Piece; that beauty of adventure. The Romance around the Dawn of every day, and the endless wonder of the journey that could be.

immattd

"Buggy gonna get hella credit for this, and he didn't even do anything" Bruh, u got no clue how right u are.

Shapire

what was going on my mind was luffy is going to win everyone and leave with ace and everyone
