Icy

oh a lovely treat of 4 episodes

cL

thanks for the blessing of 4 episodes

Tyler Green

Anime canon is just something that has been put into the Anime based on Odas work or his approval but isn’t directly part of the manga. In this case they took the straw hat cover stories and expanded upon them. Cover stories are the first page of the chapter with the chapter number and he always draws a fun little sketch about one of the side characters and how they are doing. So basically they took one page stories showing where the straw hats ended up and expanded upon them.

Wow uploading these quickly didn’t even realize I wrote this comment on the wrong episode

Icy

excited for you to start the next set

Once voice acting and music was burned into my brain. While reading the manga, I could hear their voices speaking the speech bubbles while I went from panel to panel. And I could even hear the music that might be playing during that scene.

Miss Connie!

In regards to your manga vs anime question. When I used to read manga, I felt almost nothing when doing so. Emotional moments, epic fights, etc did nothing for me. As you noted, the voice acting, sound design, animation are things that elevate the series for me. Even with One Piece, with scenes that make me cry every time I see them in the anime, the manga does nothing for me. But for some people, I'm sure that the manga can make them cry, or give them strong emotional responses. It's just dependent on the person. I stopped reading manga personally because it did nothing for me, but I encourage others to figure it out themselves and do what they prefer.

Watching this with my bacon egg and cheese to the side... No Deli's in Texas ? Hell nah!

Rikin Patel

The One Piece anime’s voice acting, OST etc make sad scenes 100x better IMO. But the manga does hype scenes just as well if not better than the anime!! As of chapter 1014, I still am shocked outta my mind reading it!

So you ask how strong is Edward Newgate is. Here is the hint, he is one of the four emperor of the sea.

Anonymous

all of the 4 episodes you watched were in the manga, but they were about only 1.5 chapters long, so the anime extended and added stuff, this is why it's called anime Conan. if you want to check how much is added in the anime you can go read the end of chapter 523, and 524

Declan Gastineau

I think usually when people say the manga is definitively better than the anime, they just focus on what the manga does better than the anime, which is true--it does do a good deal of things better than the anime--but the anime also has many aspects that enhance the story in ways that just can't be done in a manga, with color, voices, music, etc.. Both have different pros and cons, and which you prefer depends on how you weigh those pros and cons.

In Whitebeards crew, everyone refers to him as "father" and he refers to them as "sons". The crew is considered a family

Monkey D. Luffy

NOT A SPOILER here ok so to answer your question in ranks of power it goes fleet admiral / then the 3 admirals / then the 7 warlords /then vice admirals /and for the criminal side of things it goes king of pirates luffy :) then the 4 emperors which are the 4 people closes to being king and their powers are from what i understand equal to 1 1/2 of an admiral / then the revolutionary army which is basically the navy and its ranking thats it

Krlllx

how strong the emperors are compared to admirals is pretty much all speculation.

Is it just me or isnt the password working?

The one in the email doesn’t work, it should be ruff1865 not ruff8762

If u remember the episode when Shanks meets White beard.. WB tells shanks that he remembers his skirmishes with Gol D Roger when Shanks and Buggy were still apprentices. That means WB went toe to toe with the strongest pirate of the era ( on multiple occasions) and survived till now. That gives a slight glimpse into the man called White Beard!

I only caught this on my 4th of 5th watch, but right before Kuma "disappears" Perona he asked her where she wanted to go on a vacation. What she described matched this island to a T, so Kuma just sent her where she wanted to go.

Allram

I agree, the music and the voice acting is top tier in One Piece

Nanach

Oh no, this dude too; guess ill pause and take a 42 sec break

KaitouLuminous

These are cover page stories Oda does at the beginning of chapters animated. They've only animated 2 other cover page stories at this point in time Koby meeting Garp episodes & what happened after buggy after Luffy defeated him the first time.

Speaking to the question of the manga vs anime experience, It is a fair point that the anime captures emotion more readily than the manga does. Music is a powerful tool and the voice performances can really bring a new level to the events, chief among them being Nami and Robin's pleas for help. That being said, one thing the manga does so SO much better imo is sort of counter-intuitive; it really captures the movement and speed of the action much better than the animation. There are tons of moments in the anime where it feels like something that was happening in rapid fire in the manga are sort of lethargic and weightless in the anime. Rob Lucci vs Luffy is a good example, when Lucci was moving around inside the bridge support using sky walk, in the anime the sense I always got was that he was zipping and dipping and hard to pin down, whereas in the anime, there were a bunch of times where he sort of just... hopped idly by. This isn't always the case, Luffy busting out Gear Second for the first time definitely clipped along at a rate that felt faithful to the manga, and I also recognize that a part of the issue is one of medium requirements. The anime has to be trackable, whereas the manga can allow the readers to come to their own interpretations on the pace of action by only showing moments in time, but the best adaptations allow for this and adapt, whereas One Piece often feels like it drops the ball in this particular arena. The same goes for its general pacing of content and events. My Hero Academia is a pretty good example for comparison. The new episode that came out today covered more ground than I expected it to, and out of curiosity I went back and checked. In one episode, they managed to cover the full, essentially uncondensed or cut events from *six* chapters of the manga. Including major exposition, some big moments of combat between multiple groups, and a C-plot happening away from the primary location. That's a level of pace we simply don't get in One Piece. Granted, it's not an entirely fair comparison thanks to differences in production schedules, One Piece being a year-round affair and MHA having defined seasonal runs, but the results speak for themselves in my opinion. I think when most people talk about the One Piece anime being inferior to the manga, the pacing issue is their primary point of contention. The story is just as great in both forms, and the emotions it can provide are definitely elevated by the anime, so if the rate of story or the tempo of the action doesn't bother you, then yes, definitely, the anime is going to be a good time. I often find those to be significant enough detractors to me that I enjoy the manga much more.

There are more than 2 Sky islands, remember, in Skypiea they told Enel and his man came from naother sky island. When Mad Monk Urouge was introduced in Sabaody, it was said he comes from a sky island too.

MihoKiryu

what Ace said you can traslate it as yes Father or Boss, Old Man or Pops

Nanach

One Piece is gonna make you laugh, One Piece is gonna make you cry. that's how it's always been:)

iron pirate76

if you new whitebeards bounty then you'll know how scary he is

Bacon, 2x Eggs, Cheese on a Bagel (or a poppy roll), Ruff......you my man. B, 2X E, C. S&P on the wrapper written with a black marker. NY Style Yea boiiiiii. Someone need to send you a bag of bagels. (The transition is fire fire for Zoro, they do it so sporadically with the TBC screen and the endings, not overdoing it so it's always a surprise 😂)

Peacefinder Simply

For me anime is always better unless anime is atrocious like season 2 promised neverland. Its not the same without voice acting and music

KingMoe

Mustard and peanut butter on a bagel

KenKen

I honey watched the anime first bc it's what i happened to pick up first but now even when I read it i hear the voice acting in my head. However both the manga and anime make me super emotional. Perona already has a goth husband

Anonymous

Don't forget that Whitebeard holds the title of "Strongest Man in the World"

aNervousFlower

I watched the anime before reading the manga, and I'm a crier anyway, so not a great comparison. But if you get a chance I recommend checking out TotallyNotMark's One Piece reviews (at least up until Shabaody) on YouTube. He exclusively read the manga (apart from a few select clips sent to him by his editor/mods), and he talks about how he had NEVER cried while reading anything before but One Piece got him crying a lot. His reviews are also excellent, I highly recommend them.

Axel

"Is whitebeard really that scary?" Yes, yes he is.

Bill Dieterich

Everything bagel with (from bottom to top): Ham, cheese (swiss or american), burger patty, sunny side up egg (runny), layer of hashbrowns, katchup and redhot mixed on top, topped with other half of the bagel. It's my favorite 'breakfast burger'. So frickin' messy but good, but the hashbrowns absorb some of the yolk, katchup, and hotsauce.

Prof. Walker

Oh Ruff... you have only seen a HINT on the power of Whitebeard.

Eric Keatts

Green Chile Bagel. 2 eggs, thick cut bacon, smoked ham and cheddar cheese, with a country pepper shmear.

Anonymous

To me, the best part of 420 was the teaser of an island from the new world era, 400 episodes in advance. Oda truly is one of the greatest writers in existence.

hurryupmode

Jalapeno Cheddar Bagel. Jalapeno Salsa shmear. Eggs, Bacon, and Oaxacan or Asadero Cheese. If you they don't have those cheeses, you can get by with PepperJack.

Yagi di Hoshi

Oh, I actually ugly-cried reading the last pages of the first arc of The Promised Neverland, but it could partly have been due to the crazy change happening in my life at the time what with the tense vocational program I was in to get into my first job. I think it could have been overreaction, but it actually made me feel Super Bad for you-know-who. And I've teared up a Helluva lot of times reading Beastars, an award-winning manga for a reason as it were, I s'pose there

Anonymous

yes bro New York bagels are something else believe me i get you

Yagi di Hoshi

Gosh these episodes are bangers &-a-half tho. Now I remember when I first fell into One Piece for real, then went back & caught all the way up the following Spring Break for all of the Water 7 saga (was familiar with most of the characters through my first TV experience/4Kids osmosis. Yes I sorta dug One Piece even then). The Latter '09-early 2010, I think it was

Anonymous

think about it like this, the navy called all SEVEN of the shichibukai, who we know are super strong, and all three of the navy admirals plus a bunch of other bigshots. all because whitebeard was gonna show up. you've seen really strong people like aokiji, kizaru, kuma, mihawk, etc. we know how strong they are. but the fact that whitebeard is still called the 'strongest man in the WORLD' is definitely something you should think about. they constructed this whole war in fear of this one man. so yeah that title was not to be played around with.

DizzleJW

We barely got bagels in Australia 🤷‍♂️

Anonymous

LOL let's go take a bong rip, it is 420. Cheers my dude haha

SomeoneElse

I am not a crier. Can't say the manga made me cry because I wasn't reading it during these crazy sad moments but the anime got me a couple of times. Not big crying but like, CLOSE

Yim Teerapat

This is canon, the anime just extended it from a cover story in the manga, same thing as the episode that Coby train with Garp.

Anonymous

where can i watch ep zero reaction ? DO I HAVE TO SUB ON TWITCH ?!!

Shelby V.

OMG. Zoro dressed as Kumacy hits different now because of the latest chapters. XD I'm dying.

omi2108

I think eventually we'll get it here on patreon! It might just take some time i think

Copper Nickus

Definitely agree with that bagel choice Ruff. Breakfast bagel sandwiches are the bomb.

Anonymous

Nope you DEFINITELY haven't "already seen how strong Garp is" lmao
