I'll be honest, this series would be much better to me without the school life constantly breaking the tension. It's nice but sometimes too extended for my taste

bchansta

We’re paying subscribers for a reason, we’ve got good taste in both reactors and anime 😏 But yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if all the Zoomers don’t even know what this show is, it’s been out of the spotlight for a while

Jexu

im praying Code Geass does better on YT

Grady

I don't really understand the new generation not really wanting to watch something that was released around when they were born. I was born in 95 and I love the stuff that came out in the 90s as well as the 00s.

This is one of my favorite reaction series and I am sad that it isn't doing that well. I don't mind you not talking much at all. I would much rather that than you miss something important. I am having a great time watching with you, and I am glad you are enjoying it too. Imma go like the YouTube videos

ant

Ive heard nothing but good about Code Geass. I'm just really not a fan of mecha anime at all. I gave Gurren Lagaan 15 episodes and I couldn't do it. Its my least favorite category

Charlie

Please try watching dub for one episode or rewatching an episode in dub. It has a great dub with good translations and has some amazing speeches later on that are better in dub to me

AzureWolfe

Should note, the opening does change periodically including the animations keeping the same song, and iirc they're all safe to watch (no spoilers)

Now you can understand why it's not a popular anime amongst Zoomers, it's pretty complex and requires paying a lot of attention which most kids nowadays just don't have. So unfortunately, I don't think updating its art style and animation would make it much more popular.

Vlad Mavra

As a big fan of Code Geass(it's in my top 5), I also couldn't get into Gurren Lagann.

Peacefinder Simply

its also makes it better in other ways. It makes the characters more real to an extent, by showing they have lives outside of this terrorist stuff and other things

Peacefinder Simply

your not alone, i tend to enjoy newer more, like the styles, but some of the classics you can't replace.

Peacefinder Simply

wierd, i hate mecha, like quite a bit, but gurren lagann i loved for the characters and story which imo were as good as it gets. Its my second favorite anime behind re zero. One piece is my favorite overall, but its quality fluctuates quite a bit, so can't put it that high.

Peacefinder Simply

attack on titans story is more complex though and thats really popular with zoomers. I think its more of the style that pushes people away. This happens to One piece all the time, top two reason i see people don't try it is art style and length. With code geass betting on art style.

Vlad Mavra

The key difference between them is that AOT has a lot more violence and gore which draws a lot of people similar to shooters in video games. Code Geass on the other hand, is a lot more intellectual with lots of strategy and tactics involved which tends to bore people similar to how real-time strategy games are much less popular.

Willian Abreu Ferreira

I'm also not into Mecha Animes, but Code Geass and Gurren Lagann are really good. I love how Code Geass is deep and intense and how Gurren Lagann is funny and escalates into epicness nonsense :D

Grady

@ant give it a shot man. The mechs are just the primary weapons in the series. The other genres present here are where the show shines along with the story. It has more twists than most shows I've seen. There is a lot to appreciate here beyond the mechs, which I don't care too much about either.

"For the master's tools will never dismantle the master's house. They may allow us temporarily to beat him at his own game, but they will never enable us to bring about genuine change." - Audre Lorde I feel like that quote is the best summary of Lelouch's side to his argument with Suzaku. Suzaku firmly believes that he can change the system from within. Lelouch feels that participating in the enforcement of the colonization as a Police tool will not accomplish anything in terms of creating change in the system.

Bites D Dust

Code Geass has more action than Death Note and every generation loves Death Note, so that argument doesn't really make sense. I will agree with you on the art style, not to mention pretty much everyone knows how it ends.

Vlad Mavra

Death Note has a much simpler plot than Code Geass so it's easier to follow, besides that it has other stuff that draws people in like supernatural beings.

Like who even talks about One Punch Man, Ajin or Deadman Wonderland, everything gets forgotten^^
