Getting to seeing Sanji's Diablo Jambe and Zoro's Asura is so fulfilling! And Gear Second is always hype! Even after the time skip I still get pumped when Luffy's pulls out Gear Second.

FYI, in real life a giraffe can kill a lion with a kick. Also to answer your question, 4kids never even made OP past Alabasta, the ship that fell on them from the sky was their eternal cliffhanger, I heard. And that's for the best because it will get DARKER after this arc.

Ruff is right about this arc feeling more like One Piece's Bizarre Adventure. Enis Lobby is where Oda experimented more in the bizarre nature of powers in the One Piece-verse. Heck, we have a SUPER cool cyborg that is powered by cola.

actually in onepiece manga, Oda always give meaning in every 100 episodes. in manga, EP100 is Reveal Gold Roger's word in Animation OP3 Intro / EP200 is Luffy vs Croco v2 / EP300 is Luffy defeats Enel and Party ending / EP 400 is Starting battle with CP9. i know that after 500~1000 is spoiler to you. i don't write in this. anyway, i think every 100 episodes in manga are so hype to me lol

Agreed. Because the anime adapts more than one chapter into an episode (most times), the timing for the number milestones has been obscured. Chapter 100 is literally called "The Legend has Begun" and includes their depart from Loguetown (Logue like a prologue, cause the East Blue Saga was the prologue to OP) and East blue.

About Zoro’s Asura, just remember how Coby described Zoro in episode 2...demon in human form. Also, after watching this arc I fell to my knees and sold my soul to Oda. I’ve never looked back. Hehehe. So I understand your feeling about being baptized.

Loved your reaction :) As you said, since Ao Kiji appeared in the series, the tone has shifted in OP. It's one of my favorite episodes in the series because that's when you actually see that Luffy and the straw hats are still so weak! And this arc with Robin's flashback is what made me a OP fan through and through to this day! :)

Dont worry about that Ruff honestly my first anime was Naruto and i enjoyed it and still i think is one of the best shounen animes but One Piece is best selling manga in history for a reason.

yes, masterpiece. a good way to think of one piece is a broad, general fantasy story like harry potter or lord of the rings, or game of thrones. and i think it's one of the best written of all time. forget manga and anime i'm talking literature. edit: also to your naruto is trash point: almost everyone likes naruto because they watched it as a kid. most people i know at least in america have gotten in to one piece later in their life (late teens to 20s). funny how naruto is the "cooler edgier" one tho >_>

One reason people think Naruto is better then One Piece is because in America the fist dub of One Piece sucks. When you get to the time skip look up the differences between the 4kids Dub versus what actually happened. I say wait till time skip for reasons FYI.

Chapters 100, 200 etc are milestones... IN THE MANGA. The anime just had to do the same story so the milestones get kind of messed up. For example, 100 is where the thunder saves Luffy in Loguetown. Recently 1000 has clearly been thought out to be a milestone too, fyi

just one of my personal pet theories i like to put out there about enies lobby: i always felt it was an homage to the red ribbon army arc in the original dragon ball. luffy storming a huge military fortress by himself gives me huge young goku vibes, the room where zoro fights kaku is very similar the one goku fights the weird ninja guy in muscle tower, and rob lucci reminds me a lot of mercenary tao. oda loves dragon ball so i'm almost positive this arc was heavily inspired by the red ribbon army arc.

the strawhat powerups this arc can mostly be viewed in some kind of scientific way. Sanji spins super fast to create friction thus heating up his leg. nami uses the air temperture and light refraction to create mirages such as an oasis in the desert. zoro's is more related to the buddhist religion (even since skypia as his 36,72, and 108 pound phoenix techniques are also important to the buddhist religion) luffy's gear 2nd and gear 3rd are kind of explained during this fight with lucci in future episodes but they do a horrible job explaining it in pretty much every translation i've seen. so i'll post an explanation on discord and tag you upon it being brought up in the show.

Yeah Oda doesn't really bother with training arcs we know they train off screen thanks to Zoro always lifting weights, he just skips past the training so we can continue on with the main story

This arc wasn't in the 4Kids dub, in answer to your question during Ep300. The 4Kids dub ended after Alabasta and before Skypiea. If I remember right, they lost the license that was eventually picked up by Funimation.

4kids lost the liscense to dub one piece DURING Alabasta, and then very very shortly after, 4kids went out of business. You could even argue their dub for One Piece was so terrible it actually put them out of business... it certainly turned many many people off of the series in America, leaving One Piece to become more popular more quickly in other countries.

in 4kids dub canon the show ended when the crew died from the ship falling from the sky at the start of skypeia crushing them. Or at least thats the impression you get when the show ends on the falling ship scene
