HxH has a Pokemon level of fun and Attack on Titan level of depression

Suneax

it's truly bon-chan's voice! i didnt even notice wow

The way he read episode 9 like a book lmfao Also in episode 10, I think the idea was that he was in the middle of saying surrender but Kurapika knocked him out before he could finish.

Again, Killua ripping that guy's heart out is one of the coolest moments in the exam. He's a lot of people's favourite characters in this show so I won't be surprised if you love him. In regards to Manga, it's the same story but with some big differences. I highly recommend reading the first chapter because the first episode of the anime doesn't cover any of it for a weird reason. Reading it will give you a better understanding of an appearance later on in the show. Edit: The differences between the manga and anime are actually pretty minor, but can influence the way you interpret the story.

Pronunciation notes (for future videos): ku-RA-pi-ka (not ku-ra-PI-ka) and KILL-u-a (not kill-U-a). I just don't want too many comments in the future to haggle you about that >.<;

I don't know which version is closer to the manga. but the1999 ver. anime is much more detailed than 2011 ver. An important character was introduced in the first episode was cut out. It bugs me a little. It might confuse you later on because you never met him in 2011. Also, 1999 doesn't include the last two arcs. Personally, I prefer the storytelling of the old one, but the overall style of the new one.

Morgan Hellström

Maybe listen to how they pronounce killuas name. Just a hint. And yes, he said he surrendered. But no one really heard him saying it. Cause his mouth was pressed by kurapikas hand

The 2011 version follows the manga except for the first chapter where you are supposed to be introduced to a character and there is a lot of censoring in the 2011. The 1999 version doesn't have the last 2 arcs of the 2011 and the 99 adaption has filler.

TheGofenex

The manga and this version are the same, the OG is also the same but with some added fillers and more focus on parts that were shortened here, for example the first episode they just showed you Gon catching the fish and bam he's gone, in the original they give you extended time on that part for a full episode as to why his aunt was against the idea and stuff like that

*pushes up nerd glasses: -AHEM- ACKTCHUALLY.... That "Wow" stock sound clip came from a 1990 arcade shoot em up game called Parodius. That clip has been used for "sexy" segments on Japanese tv shows since the late 90s and 2000s. HxH's episode aired in December 2011, and the Fairy Tail OVA they used the clip in was February 2012.

There's actually quite a few differences between the 2011 anime version of the first arc and the manga. The second phase of the manga was like how it is in the 1999 version, and the 2011 version added filler during the third phase (Leorio's match in the manga is a lot shorter and most of the 50 hours they have to wait out in the 2011 anime is filler, and quite boring filler I think). Also the character that's introduced in the 1999 first episode is introduced in the first chapter of the manga but not until episode 76 of the 2011 anime (a very poor decision, I might add), and certain details about Mito which are in the 1999 version such as her drinking and taking Gon away from Ging in a legal battle are in the manga but were also cut from the 2011 version. Overall I think the 2011 version of this first arc is the worst version of it, since the filler added is a lot less interesting and the stuff cut is actually quite crucial, but it makes up for it with how excellently it handles the next two arcs. Plus other than the first chapter the differences are extremely minor, so it really is about the same in terms of quality, just a little under, in my opinion.

I hope you continue to do 4 episodes. It usually works better that way from what I've seen of other reactors than just one or two for this series. But you also do it more than just once a week, so that balances it out.

Grady

Hey Ruff, with this show you gotta always remember that the source material came out awhile ago so it doesn't really copy tropes from other series, it is pretty original for the most part. Not only that, it just isn't your standard shonen, for reasons. It subverts expectations though for sure.

Paulius Juodsnukis

HxH has very slow tone in general. Its even famous for it that story and world is really complex and they take really long time meticulously explaining a lot of the detail. One future arc is specifically notorious for it as there are like 10 episodes showing like 2 min in universe progress. A lot of people name it as one of the biggest cons of this show but personally I love it that story is so good and world is so "realistic" and detailed. It's almoust like reading very good and long book.

And by the way that dagger dude that Hisoka killed was Hunter doings exams last year when Hisoka first attended. Apparently Hisoka thought he was weak and almost killed him hence giving him those scars. He was disqualified because of it and have to attend this years exam. The dude had big grudge against him and figured he would ambush and assassinate Hisoka during the exam. He tried and failed obviously.

The fact that Kurapika goes into a frenzy when even seeing a regular spider because of what the Phantom Troupe did is, imo, a clear sign of PTSD. He's got heavy trauma to the point where the appearance of a spider is a trigger to him, sending him into a fit of blind rage. It's really sad, knowing that it's because of the massacre of his family/clan.

Roy Meulblok

Killua and Kurapika are by far my favorite characters. I was waiting for your reaction on these episodes, especially the Killua 1-shot.

LANA Dashie?

Just a heads up ruff the HxH manga has absolutely terrible art the story follows pretty close but the art💀

Taiyo Devil

I'm really glad you're enjoying HxH so far! The pacing is doing, imo, VERY well in this show. It moves slow and yet fast(?). It only gets better from here!!! I'd love for you to keep reacting to more than just a couple episodes (but of course do what works with your schedule!)

Marc Schrüfer

The pacing of the show is somewhat slow but rarely feels that way. Basically the first 40-ish episodes are worldbuilding and character introduction in a way before the main story really takes off, but it still manages to always keep moving forward and giving interesting info. So as long as you enjoy the world and the characters you won't mind it, whereas other anime can be unbearable with just 1 episode of bad worldbuilding.

Kratos

Killua ripped that guy's heart in the dude's clothing.

Nattis_O

Killua is great and I love his whole family. They could have done a whole spinoff series regarding them. XD I haven't finished the manga yet but it follows the plotline fairly well. There are some differences, of course, some regards to when they were published and some regards on saving time but the are fairly similar. Same with the two different adaptations. The older one is more detailed in the first arc but doesn't have as many arcs. (But that is probably because the manga hadn't released more chapters). I like them both. But I think I lean more towards the newer version but it might be because I watch it first. But I especially like the voices of my two favourite characters better in the 2011 version than the 1999 version and they have more screen time. XD

Josh Lomax

Majitani's voice actor voices Jango, Bon Clay, a future member of the Straw Hat Pirates (the third to last person to join for those curious) who will remain unnamed for spoiler purposes.

Daniel Munoz

The thing with Majitani (the blue prisoner) was that he was saying "I give up", but, since Kurapika hit him first he couldn't finish the sentence. The prisoners took advantage of that loophole, because technically Majitani did not surrender in time.

DarkPirateKing

Saying that is a bit of a spoiler in itself (it's a quite distinctive voice after all).. But it does become fairly obvious before the conclusion anyway i suppose, even with knowing that.

AceOfSerberit

that. and due to Kurapika having Majitanis face in his grasp the sound was muffled too. Probably sounded more like "I gif uf" or something of that nature

Monkey D. Luffy

yeah you go left because something ain't right
