Remember Part 6 manga reactions without filter coming soon!

King Uma is life

We can choose to live our lives running away from fate and abusing it like Diavolo did or we can face it head on and with a righteous heart like the gang did and truly find some meaning in our lives. Fate gave Giorno the power to force the man who manipulated and ran from fate his whole life to be fated to never have an end and live in constant fear for all eternity. Not only will Diavolo now live a truly anonymous existence like he wanted but he will also live in fear never knowing when death will come just like all his victims did. The perfect end for him. That is the message of Golden Wind that even though our lives are bound by fate it is those who face it head on, with courage and righteousness, and who don't let their past define them that are the ones who will truly find meaning in their lives like the gangstars did. Mista breaking the rock caused Bruno to live longer which led to them meeting Giorno and the whole adventure starting. Without that they would've never been fated to stop the boss and truly find themselves.

GordoGonk

Kinda just came to me but, are you gonna read the colored or original manga?

Mista destroying the rock, led to bruno becoming a 'zombie'. This means that they ended up fighting king crimson, and pretty much the whole part after Bruno being killed and revived. So if the rock part didn't happen the part would have ended with Bruno (and Giorno?) dying, and narancia and Abbachio dying because of this too

Dan Roberts

Basically you can blame Mista for Abbachio’s and Narancia’s death as altering the rock changes fate for the worse. Mista and Fugo were exempt to the changing fate because they were part of what altered the rock, Giorno and trish because they weren’t involved yet. Also side note: The entirety of the part takes place over 8 days

Icy

SO pretty much Rolling stones was supposed show Mista changed fate, the point was Rolling stones showed what was fate but Gironoa and Mista made a difference. Also remember GER stopping the effect from the cause thus nullifying the death infinitely is how that death loop works.

Anonymous

I think the rock part was to symbolize how working your hardest to go against fate only leads to more death. Diavolo spent his life fighting against his fate, whereas the gang starrs all accepted their fate.

JsnSkg

The VA for Diavolo will be voicing Amidamaru in the 2021 Shaman King anime. :D

Flamo

Diavolo is now experiencing true hell. Poetic

When you make your rewatch of all the openings, be sure to play close attention to the first frames of fighting gold :3c

Potato Tower

They didn't add the lyric "Requiem" to the op, It was always there.

Dan Roberts

Yep, “Uragimoto (definitely spelled that wrong) Requiem/Traitor’s Requiem

Paulius Juodsnukis

The rock scene is about philosophical meaning of part 5. You might not be that into that sort of thing but Araki definetly is. You can watch many analysis videos on phylosophical meaning of part 5 on youtube, most of them are awesome but like to try to explain the way I see it. The entire part is about fate and disadvantaged people who are trying to change it. The rock stand "rolling stones" is a stand of pity. It is connected to the fate in a sense that it knows that some people are about to die soon. And it offers them a chance to touch it, instantly making them realize and accept their fate so they can take their own lives peacefully and without pain. It makes them aware of the truth of fate. Killing themselves allows them to go without suffering that might otherwise would come with their death following natural turn of events. That's why Mista needed to destroy it otherwise Bucherrati would have killed himself before he even met Giorno. Mista put a lot of resolve and managed to break the rock, essentially changing fate. But the main thing is that you can't beat fate in turn defying it made Bruno's death split into Narancias and Abachios. But in turning so maybe ended for the good. If rock wouldn't have been destroyed maybe Bruno would'nt have met Giorno and started the chain of events for the betrayel of Passione in the end leading them to defeating. the boss and making life better for everyone in Italy. I'm going to split this comment.

Paulius Juodsnukis

The entire part is about fate. About being trapped by it in unfair life. The chains in first op for this part symbolise it. The entire cast have been unfairly wronged in their lives. Mista, Narancia, Abachio, Fugo and Bruno. Even Giorno. He had miserable life, and only because of lucky coincidence managed to get good fortune that made him hopeful in life. Remember even Bruno said when ascending into sky that his soul was destined to slowly die before he met Giorno. They were good people but they were "sleeping slaves" to fate. The entire part is about trying to change the fate. The gang wants to change it in order to get better lives. For themselves and others who are might be wronged in the future. Thats why Diavolo and King krimson symbolizes fate it self. How much he talks shit about that he is destined by fate to rule. Here is where true genius of Araki comes in. By the point we see Diavolo defeated we think that the gang changed the fate and beat it for good. But by sleeping slaves arc(the rock scene you refered) Araki throws shadow of a doubt to it. That they only have been playing their roles in destiny all a long. Altough they clearly managed to break the rock and beat the Boss and their actions and wills had consequences in reallity. Thus It is left unclear how much you really can influence fate. My interpretation would be that by their sheer resolve, never backing down and fighting for what they believed in to be good they managed to change the fate, not beat it. They had to pay steep price but they managed to exert their wills on reallity thus becoming part of fate themselves i.e. Gold experience requiem is basically god. This is a good interview with Araki about part5 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6wGQ8FzgY0

Honestly part 5 was very good and it's my 2nd favorite jojo part only behind part 7 (yeah what a surprise that part 7 happens to be everyone's favorite part) but I love how Diavolo was handled in this part and arguably he is the best JoJo villain because because of it. Hope to see your videos on part 6, 7 and 8

Paulius Juodsnukis

I'm very happy that you enjoyed Jojo. It is trully one of the kind anime! Part 5 is absolutelly amazing. It is up there with HxH for me. Really happy to have watched all your reactions for it and can't wait for more HxH!

Yeah Rolling Stones for most people was a odd case. In the manga I believe it came before GER's reveal or even earlier. Which would have came off very confusing. They moved it to the end of part 5 to tie into the overall part. As Rolling Stones is basically the entire reason part 5 both happened and resolved as it did. Such as Mista not dying a few times is due to Rolling Stone's fate ability. Mista's time wasn't gonna happen until Narancia, Abba and Bruno died before him. Most say Rolling Stones should be placed somewhere at the start of part 5 and I can see why. Oh and a fun fact: Part 5's first opening has Rolling Stones behind the statue. It was there all along.

Fing3rP0P

Honestly part 5 only gets better on a second or third viewing. Keeping in mind of the details Rolling Stones adds. Such as Diavolo after GER has a line to indicates he encountered Rolling Stones user at some point. Granted it might be a mistranslation.

If Bruno had accepted the easy way out he never wouldb have met Giorno, he never would have gone against the boss and the boss would have won. And Abbacio and Narancia would have lived. JoJo has an overarching theme of fate, what is it? How do humans interact with fate? Part five tells us that humans cannot cheat fate. But with courage and conviction you can meet your fate and in doing so you can change the world. But if you try and take an easy way out (Diavolo) or assume that fate always favours you (Kira) or [Part 6 stuff] (I didn't forget about it I'm just avoiding spoilers) You will fail. And you won't live a quite life or obtain true happiness or become king. There may be a fate for every one of us but we still must meet it head on. I think part of the reason that some people don't like part five is that it, more obviously than other parts is about something. It has a theme. It's not just a ...bizarre adventure. Part 4 does but it's less obvious

Honestly, I think Paulius Juodsnukis summed it up the best so far (I agree with most of his points, but I don't think Diavolo or King Crimson represents fate itself; rather, he too is bound to fate, and represents dealing with fate in fear instead of with courage. I also disagree that Part 5 is about changing fate, but more on that later). You asked for the importance of Rolling Stones, and the importance is thematic, like a lot of Part 5. It's in line with Diavolo's sense of running away from fate, except instead of skipping the confrontation, you run away with a peaceful suicide. You might have missed that Rolling Stones also explains why Bucciarati survives the encounter with the Boss at episode 20. By breaking the initial rock formation that represents a hole in Bucciarati's stomach, Mista prevents that death from happening, thus leading to Giorno being able to bring Bucciarati temporarily back to life. The rock then forms Bucciarati riddled with small holes, which I believe refers to the death Bucciarati's body experiences in the Colosseum when Mista shoots Bucciarati's body (with Doppio in it). Only by rejecting those opportunities for death does the team set itself up to walk the dark path they do. Others have already pointed out that Part 5 is about people born into or otherwise living in darkness, who have to confront the fact that they are walking a dark path. Each character gets a backstory explaining what they did, why they did what they did, and why that sets them up to live the lives they do. In a sense, the Sleeping Slaves epilogue is that backstory for the whole team and the whole part. It shows that the team is made up of people who will fight and confront fate, even to the detriment of their own lives, so long as they can improve the lives of others. Only then can they achieve what they achieved. This part is not about changing fate; rather, it is about having and maintaining a golden spirit in the face of unchangeable destruction. What really mattered in the end (and in the beginning, since Sleeping Slaves takes place before everything else), is the willingness to do the right thing and live the right way despite recognizing that your own life is doomed anyway. If Mista did not fight to save Bucciarati, or in a wider sense, if Bucciarati's team was composed of people who were selfish and didn't have a good heart, Bucciarati would be dead, Fugo would have met Giorno instead, and the Boss would have remained undefeated. But because their priorities were about doing the right thing instead of simply preferring pleasure over pain (which is the choice Rolling Stones gives to people in the context of confronting their own death), they saved Italy from the Boss. The Sleeping Slaves arc is about explaining all this in a really straightforward, yet symbolic way.

The point of the rock basically explains why Bruno was still alive as a "zombie" until the end and why Abbaccio and Narancia died, all was so Giorno had the opportunity to be the new boss

The rock is displayed in the End credits while the credits are rolling down. the stands during the end credits are all sculptors as well. in the final episode the rock has formed as Bucciarati . Long story short . The whole point is to simply signify fate and destiny. Bruno was destined to die the whole time, Mista messed with rolling stones which put them on the path to take down the origization. I also did think the rolling stones filler couldnt maybe been put somewhere else it was nice seeing the gang back together. Also Giornos requiem power is to remove the effect from the cause . "They will never reach the truth"

CeCactus13

Hooray, the opening where Gio does the Dio pose!

Theamz

You should react to the JoJo stardust crusaders OVA from 1993, the atmosphere of the 1993 ova of stardust crusaders feels different from the one of part 3 anime. Definitely if you have the chance you should watch it

AlmyJoyous

Diavolo controlled Fate, was blessed by Fate. The rock showed the Fate of death. The rock episode showed you that this team since the beginning were the right people to face the boss. They will go against Fate until they succeed for their teammates. Mista with the Rock (Fate: Bucciarati will die by the boss), Giorno with Bucciarati's death (Fate: Bucciarati is dead), Bucciarati with his soul forcing his way back into his body (Fate: your life ends here). The Rock showed that "You can just accept your fate and die peacefully (touching the rock) or by the hands of your boss knowing that you didn't make a difference (his fate if he left the rock alone)." But because they are who they are they said "Fuck you Fate I love these people." time and time again, and the rock broke and showed that you can change fate and get to your goal, but the path will be harder and there will be sacrifices. They kicked Fate's ass and they made a better tomorrow.

totally a wide note but you should check out how Diavolo sounds in the dub. I've always hated dubs due to the way it seems so forced, but I actually may like Diavolo's English VA more than the Japanese. Can't wait for Stone Ocean!

Hos_77

you don't wanna be a villain in jojo

Anonymous

You should watch the stardust crusaders OVA in english dub for the best memes. It's one of the rare cases where the Japanese dub was also subpar, but english dub is at least funny

Anonymous

bit late for this but the rolling stones arc really doesnt make much sense unless you really dive into the writing in part 5. Its way more than i can explain here but if you are interested Super Eye patch Wolf has a great video where he explains its significance and how it completely turns the entire part upside down. Great reaction as always and im so glad you loved this series

Byron

The importance of the rock is to make for an anticlimactic ending :D

zeldoor

I didnt mind the rock part because it shows a final look back on how the gang was and also what they were doing before they met giorno

Fun Fact: The rock appears in the first opening behind the base of the man sculpture.

Miata destroying the rock is the reason Bruno became Zombie and 3 of them died so do you understand and like the rock part now ruff?

Anonymous

Bruno is supposed to die instantly in the tower, but Mista destroyed the rock to change fate a little and keep him alive for a while. Mista completely forgot about this lol. for others like Abbacchio and Narancia's fates are just the way it is. This happened before they met Giorno. It's like interacting with the beginning of the part and explained that their death is part of their fate. What's important is that they are willing to risk their lives to save their friends. Araki's just showing the bondings between members and how they are willing to fight against fate.

JsnSkg

The Japanese is not a "dub" because it's the original language lol.
