I like the fact that you chose to react to the filler episodes! It's not the best one piece fillers (G5 arc is the best imo) but they're decent and you get to see more of each crew member and Ace!

Honestly the thing about Toei's One Piece anime original episodes...they're pretty spot on with the character writing. You saw in this episode firsthand Toei does know how to write the characters and it does "hook" you into the episodes. It doesn't mean One Piece's filler is "infallible" (it isn't) but it does give you more of the sense of the "journey" the characters are going and the sense of family with the Straw Hat crew.

Just to let you know the canon part was the Luffy hallucinating from cactus scene at the beginning. In isolation I think these filler episodes are decent enough, I just have 1 or 2 minor issues that I wont get into for spoiler reasons that bug me slightly.

So concerning the movies all the movies before the 10th film, Strong World, are hard to watch because 1. they can not be legally streamed any where in the US and 2. you can't get them physically unless you already bought them when they first came out. In my opinion none of the movies before Strong World are worth it any way because Strong World is where the movies start to get good because that's when Oda started to get involved with the creation of the films. The all the other films are pretty meh except the 4th film Dead End Adventure. But if you are unable to watch it I wouldn't fret too much because even though I think it's pretty good it's nothing amazing that you need to watch.
