π End of Year Writing "Party" & January's Monthly Experiment! π
- Following weird, writing-adjacent holidays for a month. 43
- Testing WHERE I'm most productive (library vs. coffee shop vs. at home) 80
Hello hellooooooo, everyone!
First off, it's time for our Double Stream Day slash End Of Year Party! Let's hangout and get some final words in on Thursday, December 29th at 7:00pm and Friday, December 30th at 7:00am (both CST). I also have some very dumb questions I'd like to poll you all about (like what color you think "writing" would be, and what animal a poem vs. a short story would be lolol).
Secondly, our monthly experiment! I'm sharing January's poll a little early, but I think it will make sense once you see your options!
(Also I have the first of November's experiments completed, uploaded, and ready to go, and am finishing the edit on the second experiment still!)
Okay, so for January:
Option 1: I follow some of the silliest holidays for a month. I won't be able to do ALL of these, but I think Science Fiction Day, Word Nerd Day, Clean Off Your Desk Day, and several others are VERY applicable to us as writers bahaha. (And if I can find a way to throw in random ones -- like maybe adding a bean-eating scene to my current WIP?? Bahaha -- then I'll do that too!)
Option 2: I determine where I'm MOST productive. At home, at the library, or at a coffee shop. This will also have to be closer to a month-long experiment, so I can test out each location an appropriate number of times! I'm thinking now I'd use 30ish minute sprints and also compare against the entire time spent at each location, like how often I got distracted.
So please do vote for whichever option you'd prefer seeing! I'll also be doing an experiment with a patron which I'm really excited about. π
Alright, and third, I'd like to share that I'm currently binging Below Deck and waiting (not so patiently) for new Single's Inferno episodes. My reality TV enjoyment has truly peaked in this final month of the year. And while this has nothing to do with anything, I'd love recommendations to make my January trash viewing somehow even better bahaha. I'm open to all spectrums of "trash" from pure insanity (Love For the Ages) to heartwarming (The Big Brunch) to informative (Forged in Fire). Thank you in advance lolol.
And finally, I hope you have a wonderful last week of 2022! ππ
