Wrote a whole lore bible the other day on this weird dragon society. Imagine if Sparta, Mordor orcs, feudal Japan and an ant colony had a lovechild.
They're sexually dimorphic, the females being 5'6"-7' tall, while the males (who are called kobolds) are 4'-5'. Kobolds make up 90% of all newborns and occupy a distinctively subservient class in society. In all walks of life, female dragons fill the prestigious leadership roles. Dragons typically lay a handful of eggs at a time but form emotional bonds only with daughters. Sons are sent off to do their own thing, more on that later.
Kobolds generally are subservient to a single dragon, regardless if he is a tradesman, servant, soldier, or any other position. Whoever you could consider as their direct "supervisor" is generally who the kobold's Lady is. Kobolds may address a dragon as Lady + her first name (surnames may be used instead in some formal contexts). In the army, a dragon's rank may be used instead of "Lady", so you'd get Liuetenant Sathryx, Captain Zira, etc. Kobolds may leave out any honorific and address a dragon by first name alone only in bed.
More on that later.
Dragons are generally vain and arrogant, and typically treat kobolds with a cold, distant and harsh demeanor. Punishment is cruel and handed out liberally for even slight infractions. Kobolds on the other hand, treat dragons with a mix of awe, fear, respect and lust. In the kobold sub-society, dragons are seen as paragons of power, wisdom, justice, and every other value kobolds are taught to aspire to.
Pictured above is Captain Zira, who commands a company of 180 kobold soldiers, divided into 3 platoons of 60 kobolds each, commanded by her 3 lieutenants (Jylith, Sathryx and Elex).
For coming up with dragons' names, make it sound aristocratic, mean, and work in an X, Y or Z if you can.
